Black with reddish brown highlights. Creamy nitro-like beige head, with sparse lacing. Aroma is faint roasted notes, dark milk chocolate, slight burnt sourness. Sweet on the tongue at first, before a burnt bitterness finishes and lingers for a while. Light bodied for an imperial stout, even for a regular stout. Carbonation is fittingly smooth. Should have been thicker. Not much imperial about this stout, not big in flavour or body. Straight forward and lacking character, if well balanced and drinkable. En stout gjort på irsk vis og er tørr og middels bitter. En god ettersmak av kaffe og sjokolade. Velbalansert.

(Draught at the brewpub, 5 Nov 2009) Black colour with a thick, creamy, beige head. Roasted, malty nose with notes of coffee and dark chocolate. Malty, roasted taste with black coffee, dark chocolate and a dry finish with a generous cocoa bitterness. More than medium body, smooth mouthfeel. Perhaps lacking some punch, but still a tasty and very well balanced stout. Nice one. diabel (1721) - Aarschot, BELGIUM - SEP 8, 2009
Draught at the brewpub Deep black body with a lightly brown, creamy head. Excellent looking stout. Strong coffee aroma which is ok, but not complex. Moderately sweet, lightly bitter flavour: somewhat watery mouthfeel. Not bad, but not complex at all. RuneStumo (2696) - Haugesund, NORWAY - AUG 7, 2009
14.01.2004 on tap. The colour is black. At first this is very sweet but it cets better and more balanced. Roasted sweet aroma.

Tap. Pitch black body with a nice creamy head. Aroma of roasted malts, coffee and fruity hops. Excellent creamy feel in the mouth, medium carbonation. Taste of roasted malts, coffee, dark choclate and fruity hops. Dry and smooth finish. One of their best beers. KM (416) - Tromsø, NORWAY - MAY 28, 2008
Tap. Almost black body (very dark brown). Creamy beige head, medium sized and lasting. Roasted aroma, milk chocolate (creamy). Medium to heavy. Light roasted flavour, dry. A little watery palate. It has a very strong coffee aroma, very nice look. At first impresion taste more like a porter, very good bitter palate. It takes more than 10 minutes to pour, order another one while you are waiting! Beer5000 (6674) - Kristiansand, NORWAY - APR 17, 2008
Draught @ OMB. Finally perfect served this time at a moderate temperature and almost two minutes work. Body is black with a big, dense beige N2 head. Aroma was deceptive week, but nice. Slightly roasted malt, dry fruit, some coffee and chocolate. Flavor is exactly as promised from the aroma, roasted malt, fruity, coffee, dry fruit and a balanced long bitter finish. Very nice, but my overall impression was a bit disappointed. This stout isn’t exactly what I would call an Imperial stout, the body is to light. This is closer to ordinary Irish Stout IMO.
