Tap at Vintage. Hazy ruby-red brown. Thin glass lacing beige head. True to style smoked malt aroma, roasty, fresh. Smooth and creamy, medium bodied. Chocolate amber malt tones, very malt centered, not much hop character to speak of. Super enjoyable, thirst quenching, rather mellow and subdued on the smoke...think Spezial Lager more than Schlekerla Marzen. Meaty, smoky mellowness.. Excellent. cbfobes (2883) - Quad Cities, Illinois, USA - JUL 3, 2012
On tap at Old Fashioned, pours a clear copper with a thin white head and spotty lacing, the aroma has a good amount of caramel and malt with a hint of smoke, the flavor has a good amount of smoke on the front end with a finish of sweet caramel and malt, nice mouthfeel, I am more and more impressed with Oso. madvike (3271) - Middleton, Wisconsin, USA - JUN 11, 2012
On tap at Vintage brewpub - Pours ruby brown with a thin off-white ring of head. Nose is nice smoke/jerky/meat--dry, without the sweetness I hate in some smoked beers. Pronounced charred woodiness, but gentle smoke, not harsh ash. Taste is the same, with a nice dry smokiness, a touch of breadiness, and a long, dry finish. Medium-bodied and a little overcarbonated. I liked this better than some of the Schlenkerla lagers...a home run by O’so in my book. esjaygee (3904) - Oak Creek, Wisconsin, USA - JUN 9, 2012
On tap at Vintage Brewpub. Hazy brown with a thin tan head. Aroma of sweet malt, smoked ham and caramel. Taste of smoked malts, caramel, a bit of Munich malt/hops with a dry smoky finish. crossovert (13080) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - JUN 4, 2012
Good smoked beer. Big campfirey/bacony presence. It lack the depth and complexity of some of its Bamberger peers though.

On draught at the O’so Taproom in Plover, Wisconsin. Pours a clear brownish copper colored brew with a creamy off-white head that slowly dissipates to a thin ring and some spotty lacing. Aroma of beef jerky spices, smoked malt, a hint of almond, and some Munich-style malts. Taste is medium bodied, flavors of caramel malts, smoked beef jerky, and a little autumn bonfire essence. Finish is smooth, has a mild light bitteness at first and then a smoked beachwood and mild jerky spice aftertaste. A solid smoked lager throughout. Smoky but certainly not over the top. Very well done, in fact. Refreshing. Would be perfect to sip on at a campfire. BVery (10609) - Plymouth, Minnesota, USA - APR 28, 2012
Growler at the Casanova Beer Cave festival. Light amber pour, smaller head. Nose and taste were slightly smokey, palate was moderate. Enjoyable brew.
