Reviewed at Doe in Heat.
Pours an extremely light gold with a short lived white head. Tiny bubbles are going crazy in the glass.
Has a sugary malt scent, not much by the way of hops.
Taste is list ang sugary with a hit of lactose. It is very carbonated.
It’s hard to find words for this brew, it is ok but nothing exciting really.

12oz bottle thanks to nuplastikk: pours a clear pale golden with a spotty-lacing white head. Has a lightly sweet pale malty nose with some earthy noble hops. Starts with decent fullness and effervescent carbonation with mild pale malty sweetness well-balanced with a crisp herbal hoppy bitterness before a drier finish. Pretty true to style and drinkable. Bottled at Bomb Shelter. Poured clear, straw golden with a synthetic cap of white head. The aroma picked up sweet honey and pale malts over some berries and a touch of corn.. sweet overall and pleasant. The flavor found more honey and slight creamed corn at the base.. dry and scratchy around from tight carbonation and berry bitterness.. semi-sweet finish with pale malts and more berries. Light-bodied and scratchy on the palate.. too much adjuncty sweetness and carbonation.. OK at best. RobertDale (6847) - Lansing, Kansas, USA - JAN 15, 2013
12 ounce bottle. Pours a pale gold with a small white head. Aroma of grain and malt. Taste is malt, corn, some fruit, some hops, and some skunk. Not quite average. Skyview (6099) - Papoose Jct, Minnesota, USA - NOV 2, 2008
On draught at the brewery tap room in Plover, Wisconsin. Pours a clear golden light blonde brew with a thin white head that quickly dissipates to a film top. Aroma of golden grain malts, fruity pear and apple character, with some noble hops. Taste is light bodied, lightly carbonated with flavors of golden grain malt, noble/grassy hops with a touch of apple. Finish has a semi-dry pear fruit aftertaste with some mild bitterness. Neat packaging idea by placing one bottle of Buck in Rut with five Doe in Heat bottles.

12 ounce bottle from Metcalf’s (Hilldale) in Madison, WI, served cold in a pint glass. Very, very pale gold, light bubbling and a light cloud of yeast in the body, large fluffy white head lasts a good while but does diminish to a thin ring....some nice pale malts in the nose but also unfortunately a little soapy touch which however does mostly fade in a few minutes; also a hint of wood smoke...lightly to moderately sweet body, it’s all malt without a trace of bitterness, that smoky tinge in the nose results in a very faint toastiness at the finish...body is extremely full and juicy, but not at all sticky or hard to drink, with good natural carbonation and a nice light yeasty-bready quality. If the nose were only a little fresher this could be spectacular; as is, merely a very much above-average example of the style. Frank (4235) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - JAN 29, 2015
This is a style I rather enjoy but they try to put a craft brew twist on it and it is too much. Specifically, they went overboard on both the hops and the malty sweetness. In any case, this is an orange yellow beer and nearly headless. It smells of pine and earth and tastes sweet and lightly bitter. This is very heavy on the palate for a lower gravity lager and mild in carbonation, which just doesn’t work. I am not quite sure what they are going for w/ this one but this is just a bit off kilter and in a more delicate style that can be disastrous. esjaygee (3906) - Oak Creek, Wisconsin, USA - DEC 17, 2009
Cloudy banana yellow with a small white head, gone. Aroma of sweet malt, grains, corn and fruit. Taste of malt, light fruit and a touch of lemon. Effervescent and easy drinking, refreshing and okay, but that’s about it. drpimento (3755) - La Crosse, Wisconsin, USA - NOV 10, 2015
Not sure what the plan is here. Trying to outdo the absolute masters of the spot market beers? Impossible, except if you get really lucky, win the lottery. Aroma is odd fruit and grain. Appearance is nice head/lace, but pale yellow color. Flavor is grain, corn, carbonic tang some bitter. Body is a bit thin. Forgettable. madvike (3301) - Middleton, Wisconsin, USA - OCT 10, 2012
Bottle - Pours clear pale yellow with a thin white head. Nose is light crisp corn and pale grain, with a faint floral hopping. Taste is soured pale malt, light herbal hops, and a funky grain aftertaste with some honey sweetness. Soft, ample carbonation fills up a thin body. Not a lot of difference between this and macro swill.
