3/4/13. 750mL discovered in a random tub in the aftermath of RBWG... thanks, whoever! Shared with cbfobes. Deep brown pour, not quite black, with plenty of reds under a small khaki head that I had to work for and it was still loose and soapy and didn’t last. I can smell the sweet booziness before I even raise the glass, but not necessarily in a bad way. Sweet grapey booziness in the aroma with acidic ash, barrel, alcohol, and some sort of almost off-putting almost oxidized aspect. Rich sweet grapey flavor, almost tart, with an ashy roast kick, and lingering bitter roast. Nice. jtclockwork (16561) - , New Jersey, USA - FEB 28, 2013
Bottle thanks to Deyhola. Pours very dark brown -almost black - with tan head. Nose and taste of brandy, roast chocolate malt, creamy milk chocolate, vanilla and oak. Medium body or slightly less than that for the style. A bit of brandy alcohol in the finish. Pailhead (6539) - Rochester Hills, Michigan, USA - FEB 8, 2013
Bottle: The aroma consists of sweet chocolate, fruit, black licorice, and vanilla. It pours a dark brown with some orange highlights and a small beige head. The flavor starts with sweet chocolate, caramel, and black licorice. The finish has light fruit, roast, vanilla, and coffee. It’s medium bodied with soft carbonation and mouthfeel. markwise (5441) - North of Tampa, Florida, USA - JAN 25, 2013
750mL bottle generously shared by a kind soul at the Tampa Tasting. Pours a stout brown with a tan head. Nose is roasted malts, wood, brandy, and chocolate. Flavor follows with roast, wood, brandy, and chocolate; a bit boozy at times. Medium to full in body and a solid stout overall. alexsdad06 (10376) - Cincinnati, Ohio, USA - NOV 3, 2012
Bottle shared by b3shine. Pours a dark brown color with a small tan head. The nose is on the light side and has roasted malts, chocolate, apple brandy and a hint of coffee. The flavor has apple brandy, roasted malts, chocolate, coffee, some wood and a hint of vanilla. Body was on the thin side. We had this along side another apple brandy stout and it seemed to suffer a bit for it.

750 ml. Bottle pour. Thanks Madvike! Pitch black with almost no tan head. Light brandy, a little burn. This is a big boy. Would like to try it after cellaring it for a coup,e years. illidurit (2338) - San Francisco, California, USA - AUG 13, 2012
Bottle on the RBSG 2012 bus. Typical black with brown-tan head. Barrel aroma, oak and spirit and vanilla. Roasty chocolate flavor, lots of oak. Body is not doing it for me. A little tame in some areas. anders37 (26588) - Malmö, SWEDEN - AUG 9, 2012
Bottle. Pours a black color with a small tan head. Has a roasted malty woody brandy and chocolate aroma. Roasted malty licorice and chocolate flavor with hints of brandy. Has a roasted malty licorice and brandy finish. JaBier (7958) - Capital City, Ohio, USA - JUL 29, 2012
Bottle sampled at Muckfest III. Pours dark brown with a thin off-white head. Big brandy nose with notes of chocolate, smoke and roast. Smoky and roasty flavor with chocolate and a huge brandy finish. Not bad, but wouldn’t mind trying this one with a bit more age on it to see if the calmer alcohol unlocks any other flavors. brokensail (16444) - Dublin, California, USA - JUL 26, 2012
Thanks to Jeff for trading this one to me. Pours black in color with a small off-white head. Nose is full of brandy and vanilla with a bit of oak. Plenty of roast, dark fruit, and cocoa as well. The flavor is quite bold. A touch of booze but an overall enjoyable brandy and vanilla component. Strong roasted malt and dark chocolate with an undertone of dark fruit. This was really quite good.
