Our strongest permanently available brew, Excelsior has a mellow yet full flavour that develops into a fruity dryness. A fresh, hoppy aroma with citrus, toffee and floral characteristics.

On tap at the Haymarket Bar. Pours golden with a proportionate head. The nose has creamy, grapefruit. The taste has more of the same against a malt background. The palate is medium bodied with a creamy texture and a clean finish. Overall, a solid citizen.

Pint at the Hop in York. Bright gold with a dense white head. Fruity citric aroma, Rose’s lime marmalade flavour, juicy sauvignon, crisp finish. Wife, who started with a pint of Osset Blonde, switched to this after a sip. Mal and I agreed that this was a deceptive, seductive brew that could ensnare you all too easily.

Pale golden. Malty with a hint of marmalade - not usually my favourite flavour but here somewhat disguised by the comparative strength. Medium finish. Overall, pretty decent.

A strong sweet beer with citrus hops that is exceptionally quaffable for a strong beer. A truly outstanding strong ale this one.

From my backlogg: Sample at Great British Beer Festival 2014. Clear pale golden beer with an offwhite head. Spicy hoppy citrus floral aroma. Spicy citrus floral flavour.

Cask at the The Hop, Leeds. Pours a little golden with a lasting slightly creamy head. Not much smell, only vaguely floral. Tasting is a wonderful combination of a sweet smooth citrus with the floral notes coming through. Slightly sharper hoppy aftertaste. Rarely find a sweet citrus beer, and this one is spectacular in its rarity. Really enjoyed.

Towey1989 (2917) - Stoke On Trent, Staffordshire, ENGLAND - APR 11, 2015
Cask at The Roebuck, Leek (Titanic) A clear golden colour with a medium white head. Aroma of lemon, lime, grain, some berry fruitiness and grassy hops. Taste of sweet grain, soft citrus lemon, lime, biscuit, some blackberry, some resin and grassy hops. Medium bodied, some carbonation and a slightly prickly texture. A bittersweet lemon and biscuit finish. A pleasant and easy drinking bitter.

Cask, The Sun Inn, Dent, North Yorkshire. From 2008 notes: golden pour with small white head. Medium palate and carbonation. Hoppy with quite bitter finish. Enjoyable
