COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Cask: Occasional. Also available bottle conditioned.
A rich and robust stout. The addition of black treacle gives intense depth and roasted malts impart a coffee flavour. Generous amounts of hops add a dry citrus finish to this complex black ale.

Black. Treacle, burnt sugar aroma. Nice bittersweet burnt malts taste. Smooth and easy to drink with quite a strong bitter finish.

Cask @ Magnet, Stockport [011114]
Very dark brown ruby, thin tan head, good lacing
Aroma of soft roast, getting a touch of treacle, aroma a bit muted
Taste of soft roast, dark sweet malts, touch of treacle, getting some bitter hops, dab of liquorice, some sticky molasses
Palate - Medium body, bit sticky, light sweet. Finish has some more treacle
Overall - Quite a decent stout

500ml bottle from t’Asda - Jet black body, beige to tan head which soon goes. Nose is molasses, coffee, espresso, burnt malts. Taste is bitter at first, strong black coffee, harsh liquorice. A full mouthful, would only wish for a bit more oiliness in the palate.

Cask at the Tockwith Beer Festival. Black with a tan head. Notes of liquorice, coffee and a hint of treacle. Could do with more body.

Cask @ Railway, Hebden Bridge. Black with a thick frothy head. Not full-bodied as it feels slightly thin in the palate but has enough roasted malts to please.

Bottle. Black beer with red tints. Medium head. Aroma of roasted malts and chocolate. Taste is mild chocolate, coffee and roasted malts with a touch of earth. No treacle that I could detect. Very nice stout from back home.

I enjoyed this stout ... but in all honesty it seemed a bit more like a porter to me. Poured from the bottle dark brown ... but with some light coming through. Thin fizzy head. Lots of fizz and light on the palate. Definitely roasted malts in the nose. Roasted malts on the tongue, some molasses and a bit of bitterness. Very tasty.
