COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Cask: Occasional. Also available bottle conditioned.
A rich and robust stout. The addition of black treacle gives intense depth and roasted malts impart a coffee flavour. Generous amounts of hops add a dry citrus finish to this complex black ale.

Cask at the Newshouse, Nottingham. A pleasantly sweet stout, perhaps a bit thin on the palate. I dont normally like Ossett beers, but this one isnt bad.

500ml bottle from The Real Ale Company. Almost black, reasonable head. Chocloate malt aroma. Mild chocolate treacle flavour. Watery with sweet malty aftertaste. A bit bland.

500ml bottle. Rather fittingly, the colour is that of dark molasses, and it pours with a pale caramel head. The aroma is burnt cinder toffee. Soft and rounded texture, with flavours of burnt malt and smokey honey. This stout is pleasingly flavoursome, and pairs well with cake.

Had on tap at The Hop in York. Not much of a smell, super dark colour, watery to taste, sort of a bad aftertaste. Overall a subpar stout, wouldn't have again.

Bottle - dark black with a dark fizzy brown head. Aroma of roasted malts, caramel and dark chocolate. Taste of cocoa, caramel and burnt toffee with a little earth and light bitterness to finish. Medium, oily body and low carbonation.

Pours a completely black color, topped with a very good-looking brown colored head with nice retention. Mild roasty aroma, some pleasant chocolate notes and a hint of coffee. Taste is mild, slightly sweet with chocolate with some minimal bitterness in the finish. Medium to full bodied, smooth and easily drinkable. Gentle but tasty.

Black. Treacle, burnt sugar aroma. Nice bittersweet burnt malts taste. Smooth and easy to drink with quite a strong bitter finish.

Cask @ Magnet, Stockport [011114]
Very dark brown ruby, thin tan head, good lacing
Aroma of soft roast, getting a touch of treacle, aroma a bit muted
Taste of soft roast, dark sweet malts, touch of treacle, getting some bitter hops, dab of liquorice, some sticky molasses
Palate - Medium body, bit sticky, light sweet. Finish has some more treacle
Overall - Quite a decent stout
