GoufCustom (2255) - HONG KONG - OCT 14, 2017

350 ml bottle bought at Great Food Hall in Pacific Place, Admiralty.

Clear light golden yellow colour; One and a quarter finger head with crumpety white foam which lasts for 2 minutes; Good sticky lacing with fizzy slight carbonation; Aroma of Pils malt, with strong floral, sugar, wood, bread, light lemon and strong sharp grass; Medium sweet taste of Pils malt, with strong floral, sugar, dry biscuits, lemon, medium bitter hop and strong grass; Close to light body. Thin and slightly slick palate; Mouth feel is fair Pils maltyness in a watery background. Strong flower and malt sugar flooded with very grassy strawy hops. Dryish with lemon to round. So so... Hoppiness is strong floral, wood, light lemon and strong sharp grass in nose and taste; Bitterness is notable for an abrupt, mid to fair astringent sweet-bitter strawy finish; Dry after taste; Grassy and fairly bitter to mouth.

Comments: This one seems like it has all the right ingredients and vibes in place - fairly Pils malty, and strong German floral grassy hops - yet the body is a bit too thin and not bitter enough to be a true German or Czech Pils. Okay to try but once is enough.

Can. Light golden, small to average and mostly diminishing head. Light to moderate, malty and dryish - lightly sweetish aroma, light herbal/vegetable hoppyness. Body is light, malty and dryish flavor, light herbal/vegetable hoppyness. Finish is short to average, malty and dryish, light herbal/vegetable hoppyness. Pils with notes of vegetables. Not very enjoyable.

Can from Seiyu. Clear pale straw gold, finger of foam. Nice pils aroma, crackery, a touch of cereal. Flavour is similar, a bit one-dimensional, very light fruit note and low spice. Clean and easy to down. Middle-tier of ji-biiru pilsners out there.

grass, hay, cooked vegetables, pale, clear, light sweetness, salty, light body, astringent. Very grassy, but in a bit of a sour way unfortunately. Sweet and salty taste, not particularly pilsner-like IMO. You ever bake bread and actually add twice as much salt as you should? This is the beer version of that. Seems like somebody got the numbers wrong somewhere.

330ml can from Lawson in Asagaya. Drank it straight from the can. Slightly floral aroma. Kind of all-around average. Average bitterness, average smell although a little metallic taste seemed to leach out into the finish. Nothing special.

biirusaikou (2705) - - JUL 18, 2014
Sweet grain, mild floral hops. Sweet malt, dry bread, biscuit, mild honey, bittersweet finish. Not bad for a Japanese pils, kind of a lighter and sweeter version of a classic Czech pils.

350 ml can thanks to Ingo! On May 18, 2014.
As Otaru Bakusyu Pilsner.
Clear straw yellow color, big lasting white head. Malty, sweet, herbal, sulphur, vegetable scent. Malty, grainy, dust, vegetable taste. Dust, malty, cloyingly sweet aftertaste. Medium a bit low CO2 mouthfeel, low bitterness.
More of a Euro lager than a pilsner.

Purchased at a small grocery store called OKest in Nara. The can is nice, and the beer is organic, but the beer is not good. I drank about half a can before throwing the rest away. Maybe something bitter/metallic, or perhaps an old can?
