20170525 Morshuis, Albergen (Nl), 33 cl bottle; BB Jun 2017. A clear beer with a nice dark red (ruby) colour. The heavy foam layer is brown. Aroma of roasted malt with a malty bitterness. Taste is somewhat sweet with coffee, chocolate, black berries and laurel. In teh aftertaste a malt bitter. Body is medium-full with little sweet sticky and bitter dry. Nice stout, but a little to sweet in my opinion.

17-05-2017; fles; at home (bottle from a beer shop in Almelo, the Netherlands). The looks of the beer are nice. It looks like most stouts. The color of the beer is a dark brown, close to black, with a nice ruby red glow. On top of the beer slightly yellowish brown rather rough foam is formed. The majority of the foam collapses in not that much time. The beer is extremely cloudy, but of course it is, since it is unfiltered. The smell of the beer is nice. It is not extremely strong, but not bad. I smell some nice aromas of roasted malts, like chocolate and coffee, and some bitter and slightly savoury roast. There is a clear smell of red fruits. I smell lovely raspberry, giving some nice sour and fresh touches. There is also a hoppy bitterness. Not bad. The taste has some stronger malts than the smell. Nice chocolate, coffee and bitter and slightly savoury roast flavours. There is also that same red fruit freshness and hoppy bitterness. The beer is well balanced. The palate is good. Medium body, rather smooth texture and medium carbonation. The finish is very nice. Lovely chocolate, alcohol warmth, coffee, toast and hoppy bitters. It is a bit dry, but nice. All in all, a lovey beer. I like it.

From tap at Bier Xperience Steenwijk 2016. Aroma is dark malt, caramel, chocolate, some roast. Flavour is moderate to medium sweet and above moderate roasty bitter. Nice strong caramel and chocolate malt aroma, a bit roasty and pleasantly bitter. Good Stout.

Christos (5883) - Arnhem, NETHERLANDS - AUG 24, 2014
(Othmar Stout) 330 ml bottle from bierkoning, thanks! Into a snifter, ABV 7.2% Deep brown, almost black coloured beer, with a small and thin beige head. Average retention, some big bubbles left behind and light lacing around the glass. Aroma of oats, light liquorice, light roasted malts. Taste follows, liquorice and oats mainly, more roasted malts now, especially on the finish and the aftertaste. Seems lighter than a 7.2% beer. Nice bitterness on the aftertaste, with good duration. Medium thick body, nicely carbonated. Very dry palate. Very good.
