BlackHaddock (7753) - Shropshire, ENGLAND - APR 24, 2014
Hand-pulled pint on 22nd April 2014 in Ye Olde Fighting Cocks, Oakengates. Pale golden body with a white crown that gave some good lacing. I found it dry and hoppy with a trace of citrus notes in both the aroma and taste. Refreshing and light on the tongue, not really my thing, but it was fine and I can see why others around me were waxing lyrical about it.

Cask @ The Rake. Perfect golden ale. Fruity malts, citrus and a great dry finish. Lovely stuff.

Cask @ Wellington Arms. Bright light to mid-gold in colour. Aroma waxed lemon, grapefruit and seawater.taste is bitter, perhaps too bitter, with very little let-up. A bit of salt and astringency show up to the party as well. Not terribly shabby but I wouldn’t go for this again.

Otley O2 Croeso served on Draught at the Bunch of Grapes, Pontypridd. This light Hoppy Ale with bitter aftertones is a classic modern light hop / summer ale style. Easy drinking at anytime of the day with great Citrus notes, this beer is world Class and should be tried whenever possible. Unfortunately I can only recommend Otley beers on draught, not the best beers in Bottles.

I’ve had this one before a few times. However, the last time I had it, it was just marvelous. Got it at the Bunch of Grapes (an Otley pub) in Pontypridd. The looks are light and golden, the aroma was VERY floral and fruity. It was light and hoppy in taste, very aromatic. It just tasted incredible, much more so than what I remembered. I was also having it after a Raging Bitch (8+% abv), so I thought I wouldn’t taste it, but after the first sip cleant my palate, the hops really came through on this one. I just can’t complain, hoping to get some in cask in summer... absolutely cracking...

berkshirejohn (6689) - Bracknell, Berkshire, ENGLAND - FEB 6, 2013
Cask at the Albion, Winchester. Pale amber with a ring of loose cream head; aroma of tropical fruits and pineapple; soft and grainy and rather thin with a citrusy taste, perhaps sweet grapefruit; then a dry and biscuity finish. Yet another grapefruit blone - my second today.

Theydon_Bois (20922) - Hazlemere, the lower Xhitlerns, Buckinghamshire, ENGLAND - SEP 12, 2012
Cask at the Cask, Pimlico - 21/08/12.
Clear pale blonde with a thin off-white head.
Sweet malt nose, straw, earthy, slightly pissoi.
Taste follows nose with citrus tones and honey.
Medium bodied, slightly thick feel for 4.2% followed by tarte dry finish.

[email protected] Welsh Beer & Cider Festival 2011. Golden colour, minor white head. Aroma is fruits, nectar, some honey and vanilla. Flavour is kind of the same in a smooth balance. Balanced and tasty golden ale.

Ethereal (2471) - Los Angeles, California, USA - MAR 25, 2012
Draught at the Bricklayers Arms, Putney, 8th April 2011. Light gold with a hint of white head. Soft grapefruity hop on nose and tongue with good malty balance. Good mouthfeel, not watery but lacks carbonation. Decent mix of sweet and sharp but not likely to pry you away from your favourite golden ale.
Earlier Rating: 1/2/2009 Total Score: 3.5
Cask at the White Horse, for "Mr. Selle is going back to America" session, 21st Nov 08. Clear golden amber with a small foamy white head. Soft balanced aroma and nice weight. Not bad.
