Cask conditioned handpump Wenlock Arms London 16/05/12. A near black beer with a ruby hue and an off-white head. Great grapefruity hops in the nose which carry through to the mouth where they are joined by roasty malts. A very tasty beer with great depth of flavour and bitterness. Unlike a lot of BIPAs, the taste exceeds the aroma.
500ml bottle [as Oatley 10]. Clear dark brown with a small tan head. Citrus, roasted malts and chocolate. Nice. mahkus (136) - Aberdeen, SCOTLAND - JAN 25, 2017

500ml bottle. Dark brown, with a fine toffee-coloured head. Sharp aroma, creamy with a something akin to Biro ink. Dry flavour, heavy coffee and cream. Dry aftertaste. Very much like a stout, as opposed to a black IPA. SarkyNorthener (4627) - West Bromwich (Yorkshire Expat), West Midlands, ENGLAND - MAY 7, 2016

Aroma is quite prominent in green, resinous hop. Fairly hoppy flavour with a decent roasted malt bitterness. Towey1989 (2835) - Stoke On Trent, Staffordshire, ENGLAND - JAN 16, 2016
Cask at The Roebuck, Leek (Titanic) A deep brown colour with a medium beige head. Aroma of grapefruit, slight resin, subtle lemon, roasted malts, chocolate, a little coffee and some earthiness. Taste of roasted malts, chocolate, a little coffee, some resin, slight grapefruit, subtle earthiness and herbal hops. Medium bodied and soft carbonation. A dry, roasted, chocolate bitterness with a subtle resinous aftertaste. A really nice dark beer, more stout than black IPA but the subtle hoppiness is enough. dnicolaescu (2570) - Chișinău, MOLDOVA - DEC 13, 2015
BOTTLE 50 CL. Opaque black, beige head with good lacing. Nice aroma: hoppy - mint and lemon rind, malt sweetness that blends nicely with the hops and just a hint of roast. The taste is balanced between hops, light malts and chocolaty roast, fresh hoppy bitter finish. Easy drinking, though the body is lacking at times. Still, a very good beer.
