Formerly Ottakringer Zwickl.

Bottled (I think. It came poured) at Oktogon Restaurant at Am Himmel, Vienna. Cloudy yellow with a short white "whipped egg white" head. Thick lace. Aroma: Doughy crackers, sweet citrus, dough/yeast, slight peppery weedy/grassy hops. Taste: Sweet citrus, dough, crackers, straw, grass. Medium bodied, soft carbonation, slight oily/chewy texture. Two days into my Vienna vacation and I’m starting to wonder if I’m already getting tired of zwickelbier. But even the simple ones are tasty when it’s really hot.

Bottle, 0,5l, Vienna. Pale yellow, relatively sweet taste, an awful finish and aftertaste, feels like some cheap alcohol was mixed in. Would never recommend a bottled one.

draught at Café Leopold in the Leopold-Museum, Wien. Hazy golden, white head. Malty with some grassy hops and a yeasty touch. Nice one.

When there´s nothing else but pils or märzen on the menu here in Vienna, I order a Zwickl, cause at least it tastes like something. All in all it´s a fresh beer, kinda sweet with a hoppy aftertaste. Ok if you don´t have any other choice.

Kita (2210) - Koper, SLOVENIA - JAN 31, 2014
On tap, 0.50l. Hazy pale golden color with large frothy white head and average sparkling appearance. Aroma of herbal hops, citrus, bread and cereals. Taste starts with light sweet grainy malt, follows by refreshing citric and yeasty acidity, while finish is light bitter. Medium body, slick texture and average carbonation in palate. It’s a good thirst killer...

UPDATED: FEB 26, 2017 Vom Fass @Gasometer Vienna. Cold unfiltered zwickl. A little tangy, light body, malty. Not my favorite, but not horrible.

Tap at Crossfield, Vienna.
Hazy yellow appearance woth a fine froathy white head. Aroma of bread, yeast, some herbal hops. Lively carbonation brings the yeasty and bready flavor. Sourish yeast, bittersweet finish with balanced hops. Drinkable, fine.
