Handpull cask at the Gate, Sawbridgeworth. Dark brown with a reddish hue. Fairly clear. A ring of off-white head. Light malty aroma with some blackberry and a slight forest floor suggestion. Taste is also light, so much so that I only really taste my previous beer. Bittersweet with a short finish. I drank loads of this when I lived in Devon pre-RB. Either it doesn’t travel well, or the recipe has changed, or my taste has moved on. It’s ok but nothing special. Emil (6065) - Copenhagen, DENMARK - NOV 13, 2004

Almost I did not tried it, confusing it with otter Ale. It was a little dark for being a bitter but it was nice, nice foam, a little annoying after a while, you know this is not my favorite style. gunnar (9007) - Sandnes, NORWAY - JUL 18, 2011

Tasted 19/4/2013 draught "The Anchor Inn", Beer, Dorset. Poured a clear golden amber with a few millimeters of white bubbly head that laced OK. Aroma of earthy malt. Taste of sweet malt followed by a mild bitterness. Light body. Short bitter finish. Quite nice, very drinkable. viktorvee (510) - Greater London, ENGLAND - MAY 19, 2013
Slightly generic easy drinking bitter - a mid orange-brown colour. Malty and a litte grassy but generally not a lot going on. OK kwik-lime (1915) - London, Greater London, ENGLAND - FEB 2, 2014
Cask at the Hand and Flower in Ham. Decent balance of malt and grassy hops, low carbonation, slightly thin palate. The embodiment of a pleasantly drinkable but unexciting English bitter.

Tried at the Tudor house, Twekesbury. Pale Amber colour almost no head. Aroma is dull, and has a touch of malt. The taste mildly sweet. OK bitter but it won’t set the world alight.
