Pours a rich brown from a bottle. Aroma is roasty, but with some grapefruit and pine. Flavor is a balanced blend of coffee with some grapefruit. Good beer. Voodoo (668) - Pennsylvania, USA - NOV 27, 2014
Pours a deep, dark brown with a creamy off white head which lingered......aroma of slight coffee......taste is coffee, burntness, with avery smooth mouthfeel ending in even bitterness and slight metallic finish. grundsow (130) - Pennsylvania, USA - NOV 20, 2014
Black IPA’s rock! It’s the best of both worlds – roasted flavors & hops. Delightfully bitter hops up front, backed with bitter roasted malt. Smooth, rich, tons of flavor all around, and even manageable alcohol to boot. A pert near perfect beer. pottygok (548) - Ohio, USA - NOV 16, 2014
Aroma: Toasted malt aromas with hints of floral hops. Appearance: Black with tan head. Taste: Light sweetness balanced by a light bitterness. Palate: Medium body, slick texture, soft carbonation, sweet finish. Overall: Nice flavors and good balance, but not mind blowing.

black color; citrusy hops and roasted malt aroma; a bitter, hoppy beer; citrusy hops on a dark, roasted malt base

Citrus caramel roast hop nose. Black bod with a caramel tinge around the edges. Crisp roasted caramel taste with a sweet malt background. Has an apple-like crispness. Leaves a refreshed sweet taste with a hint of smokiness. 60minuteman (1718) - West Chester, Pennsylvania, USA - NOV 2, 2014
Dark pour, tan head. Aroma of chocolate, roasted malts, maybe some citrus. Probably orange peel. Flavor is big in the porter character due to the cocoa and malt. Finishes lighter and more carbonated. Roast all the way through. ScipioA (405) - Boston, Massachusetts, USA - OCT 26, 2014
Inky black pour without any real head on it. Aroma is mainly malt and coffee with a little bit of pine from the hops. The flavor is surprisingly sweet with plenty of coffee, a little licorice and some citrus hop joining the pine. Fairly bitter lingering into the aftertaste. Thick and incredibly smooth, great aftertaste. On the plus it’s a more reasonable abv than a lot of other black IPAs, it’s a style that tends to get boosted up too high. downender (8660) - Bristol, Gloucestershire, ENGLAND - OCT 23, 2014
Bottle from Bo Brooks’ Lighthouse Liquors, Baltimore. Near black, with a frothy, off-white, head. Big, plain chocolate character, some toasted malts and plenty of hops in the finish. Good. Jay_Dubbz (103) - Pennsylvania, USA - SEP 9, 2014
Poured from 12oz bottle. Unremarkable take on this trendy style. Very middle of the road without and pop in either side of the fence here. Decent roastiness with a lacking hop bite for an ipa.
