India Pils Lager
Our spring seasonal offering brewed with 100 percent positive vibrations and single-hopped with Citra hops. The presence of the Citra hop is elevated by a clean fermenting lager yeast that allows the subtle Pilsner, Munich and Vienna malts to lay a crisp, bready foundation. The citrus and tropical fruit character of the Citra hop comes from kettle additions followed by a huge dose of em again in the fermenter.

Good lord this is good. Highlights the citra hop beautifully. So much citrus, like an absolute massive citrus bomb. Nice sweet bready malt backbone, but the citra hops just make this beer what it is. So much flavor. Highly recommended. Cheers!

Interesting style combination that keeps it fresh but has a good bit of hops to it.

Citrus, tropical hop aroma. Appearance is pale yellow with an avg white head and good lacing. Flavor has tropical hop flavor with some notes of pils malt on the end. Mouthfeel is medium with medium carbonation. Overall, it tastes passed its prime. While citra hops taste great fresh. They drop quick and give an old taste within a few weeks after bottling. Definitely a beer that needs to be tasted within a week of bottling. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Pale yellow pour with decent white retention. Citra hop notes, malt, straw, dry citrus. Alcohol presence is there but IPL really? Still a clean good session brew. On tap at Rams.

Pretty dmn good for style. Just the right mix of pilsener malts and citra for a little lime infusion. Pours golden with decent initial head and lacing. Light bitterness. Very drinkable. Light tangy finish from citra hops and good malt backbone. A very drinkable beer. Bottle.

Otter Creek is a brewery thats really upped their game in the last few years. I wouldnt consider them trend-setters per se, but when a new style comes along, theyre able to jump on the bandwagon and made a great entry without the pretentiousness of smaller, supposedly artisan breweries. Citra Mantra is their take on the popular IPL style and it works for all the right reasons looks great, smells, great, tastes great and is easy to drink. Whats not to like?

I poured a 12oz bottle into a footed pilsner glass. It was bottled on 1/22/15 and cost $2.30 ($0.19 per ounce).

Appearance: White gold hue over a very clear body (surprising, since it mentions being unfiltered on the label). Pours to a large, white, fluffy head which laces and retains very well.

Smell: Nothing but hops; herbal notes especially, though some lemon or other citrus character is present. Spicy but clean.

Taste: With the exception of American hops (of the Citra variety, obvious); this beer is actually a fairly traditional German Pilsner brew. Compare it to BJCP style 2A and youll see it hits on pretty much every point. Clean, crisp maltiness at the base without any residual sweetness and no esters or flaws, either. But instead of Noble hops, which tend to be spicy, Citra hops create for a citrus/spicy taste sensation. Lemonpeel is quite prominent immediately, with a dry spiciness on the finish. Though only 55 IBUs, this is still plenty bitter, but not extremely so. An interesting hybrid of a traditional recipe and contemporary innovation.

Drinkability: Crisp and effervescent like a pilsner, but with the hoppy bite of an IPA. There is some residual startch-like sensation that lingers on the tongue, though the beer is quite refreshing while in the mouth. Otter Creek Citra Mantra is a spring seasonal, though Id say it would be suitable for year-round release because its so easy (and fun) to drink. Its strong enough to stand up to pretty much any meal, and at 5.75% ABV its light enough to drink as a double-header without being overwhelmed.
