At the Barleywine event. Aroma is maple, barrel, booze, caramel, toffee, dark fruit, sweet. Appearance is light tan head, brown, haze. Taste is too sweet, maple, barrel, booze, caramel, eh. Mouthfeel is medium body, light carbonation, wood and maple aftertaste. Overall, it’s sweet and woody.

Bottleshare: pours light brown with almost no head. Aroma is maple, booze, sugar, and fruitiness. Taste is boozy and sweet. Kind of thick. Tasty. Lingering sweet aftertaste. A lot.

Aroma - is sweet-like Amaretto alcohol, chewy cinnamon maple, fig, and spice. Appearance - the body is a dark shade of mahogany, with steady replacement head nucleation. Head is around 1/2 and off-white, and settles into a thin layer of small sudsy foam. Taste - sweet malt rich in maple sugar, fig, nut, Amaretto-like booze, and also at the same time autumnally New England. That’s hard to capture. Palate - full body, slick texture, the carbonation is average, the finish is boozy and sweet.

Bottle, deep copper color with a small thin beige head. Light carmelized malt flavors and aromas. Very faint maple and softly bittered. Smooth and deceptive for 10% +

September 2016 - Bottle share at Leighton’s, with many thanks to our host. As ’Otter Creek / Lawson’s Finest Liquids Double or Nothing’, no ABV stated. Dark reddy brown, still, foamy tan head, dotted lacing. Aroma is varnish, cherry, raisin and booze. Body is smooth with soft carbonation. Taste is rhubarb, demerara, boiled sweets with some liquorice. Interesting stuff, if a bit sweet and harsh for me. (3.1)

Leighton’s flat clearance. Thanks to Leighton. Clear amber beer, tidy pale tan head. Palate is smooth and soft, very mild carbonation. Soft smooth malts, little malt cream. Modest and sweetish dried fruits. Smooth and warming finish. Not bad, but lacks maturity.

stevoj (5424) - Boise, Idaho, USA - OCT 15, 2016
12oz bottle pours out a rich copper color capped off with a small, tight beige head. Aroma is fairly complex, lots of elements here, kind of sweet with the maple notes kicking in. Taste brings in the rich malt background, more maple syrup , some butterscotch and toffee. A bit sweet and hides the ABV well.

ComradeK (1256) - Sydney, AUSTRALIA - OCT 11, 2016
Draught at Churchkey, Washington DC. Pours a deep ruby, with a moderate light tan head, which lasts well and leaves good lacing. Maple syrup, bacon, port and spice notes make up the aroma. Mild herbal hops up front give way to woody notes, maple syrup and pumpkin spice in the mid-palate. It has a dry, savoury finish. An interesting and very satisfying barleywine.

egajdzis (6692) - Pennsburg, Pennsylvania, USA - OCT 6, 2016
Hazy red brown color with a medium sized, light tan head that left nice lacing on the glass. Aroma of dark fruits, caramel, maple and boozy raisins. Taste of dried fruits, caramel malts, maple syrup, and light alcohol in the finish.

3.6
solidfunk (9363) - Washington D.C., Washington DC, USA - OCT 5, 2016
A barely wine through and through. Hazy brown pour with good head and lacing. Lots of citrus and caramel with lots of cooked malt. Sweet and light bitter finish. Tap at Churchkey.
