Slight buttery malt aroma. Well balanced flavour with hints of caramel, however this beer just doesn’t have the smooth malty character and depth that a good Oktoberfest should. The main problem is that this beer is brewed with an ale yeast making it impossible to match the well-rounded smooth flavour that the style calls for. VENOM (941) - Connecticut, USA - AUG 31, 2001
Not my fave Octoberfest but still worth a shot due to the flavorful yeast they use, which gives all their brews some twang. Not a very full bodied brew, but satisfying none the less. muzzlehatch (4958) - Beloit, Wisconsin, USA - AUG 18, 2001
Nuthin’ special, that’s for sure. With all the micros in this state, why are Otter Creek, Long Trail and Magic Hat the biggies, I ask you? All have at least one good-very good brew, but compared to McNeills... ok enough rant. Thin, too bitter on the tongue and the throat, not much going on in the nose .. tolerable for sure, but you can skip it (pretty label).
