Bottle. Black beer with a brown head. Light roast and chocolate aroma with light oatmeal. Chocolate and light roast flavor. Medium-plus bodied. Chooclate and cocoa lingers with light roast and light oatmeal. Not so impressed. jefcon (1853) - Arlington, Virginia, USA - MAY 2, 2009
Most impressive I’ve tasted on the Otter Creek line. Lots of roasty aromas and flavors. Deep chocolate appearance. An enticing hint of cherry/raspberry fruit behind that essential first sip. A good russian imperial that hides its alcohol very well. mreusch (851) - Olathe, Kansas, USA - MAY 1, 2009
22oz. bottle, with thanks to 46er3498. Pours a dark black with a nice tan head that lingers. Aroma is licorice, dark fruits, anise and other spices, chocolate and light espresso. Flavor is more of the same, with licorice, chocolate, spice and light espresso. This leans a bit medicinal at times but otherwise is a unique and interesting RIS. Thanks again Tom!

pours black with mild cream head. nose of burnt wood, smoke and carmel. taste is little sweet, like sweet molasses, maybe a little fig and a hint of chocolate. the 10.5% alcohol hides nicely behind the roast. a nice balanced imp stout. badgerben (5178) - Blaine, Minnesota, USA - APR 25, 2009
SourFest II. Black color with no head. Butterscotch aroma. Light bitter taste, mostly piney hops. More butterscotch and malt sweetness. Finishes with coffee.

Bottle Pours a deep black with a creamy tan head. The head last well and laces great. Has a good aroma of roasted chocolate, sweet fruits and alcohol. Has a good carbination and a zingy mouthfeel. Has a nice alcohol burn. The flavors are good and party on the tongue. Definetly has a good alchol bite. A heavy body and a real strong finish. Has a watery texture. Not as thick as I would expect. A good drinking stout with a kick butt attitude. blankboy (7689) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - APR 23, 2009
Bottle (660ml) shared with HogTownHarry, garthicus, GregClow, tupalev & jerc -- c/o HogTownHarry. Pours a very dark brown, almost black, with a small diminishing bubbly light-brown head. Aroma’s roasty along with coffee, cream, dark fruit and alcohol. Flavour’s also roasty with coffee along with hops, a hint of peat, bitter chocolate and some alcohol. Medium bodied. A nice surprise, this was very good, well done Otter Creek! Skyview (6034) - Papoose Jct, Minnesota, USA - APR 23, 2009
Sampled during Skyview Sourfest II in St Paul, MN and shared by Guerde. From a 22-oz bomber pours an opaque dark brown brew with a thick tan head that has some nice retention and lacing. Aroma of dark chocolate, toasted dark malt, molasses, some plums and coffee. Taste is full bodied, with flavors of chocolate, toasted dark malt, a hint of butterscotch, toffee and some roasted nuts. Finish is smooth, some alcohol presence with a toasted dark malt and chocolate aftertaste. daknole (11049) - Scottsdale, Arizona, USA - APR 21, 2009
Bottle from dogfish120love, thanks! Holy crap this is a beautiful beer. Black with a great creamy brown head. Aroma is wonderful. Molasses, smooth roasted malt, chocolate, purnes and hints of a caramel frappuchino. Flavor is rich and full wtih an amazing body. Lots of chocolate, plums, molasses, coffee, and the roasted element in this beer is very mellow and melds amazingly well with the hops. This is underrated IMO. Wow. coldbrewky (1730) - Hippetown East, New York, USA - APR 20, 2009
UPDATED: APR 21, 2009 Bomber in trade with somebody....? Been sitting in the fridge for a few months waiting..for an overcast cold dreary day off like this that I could enjoy the warmth from a Russian Impy stout. this one did not dissapoiint.. I half expected a big coffee fucker that would makle my face twist like the Red Poppy that was sitting next to this probably will. I must say that their use of brown sugar in this brew was expert. It is noticable from start to finish as a pleasant undertone. A fine, dense sticky lacing clings to the glass and slowly separates into thin quaff rings. Nose of sweetened coffee. Body is Medium + but ends thin, with a hint of tanginess. ....Willamette and Magnum hops????? Not in any noticable ammount. Easily drinkable and not overbearing. A nice one.;
