Keg. Pours dark brown/ruby red with a tan head. Smells of pine, some spicy undertones. Tastes resiny and peppery with a nicely balanced bitter finish. Great beer. arojewski (58) - Old Bridge, New Jersey, USA - APR 30, 2014
Pours a murky copper with cream colored head. Obvious caramel notes with hints of something earthy, almost an iron. RyanK (275) - Rhode Island, USA - DEC 5, 2011
UPDATED: JAN 8, 2012 Winter red pours more like a dark amber with a with carbonation head that soon dissipates. Aroma is complex I’m smelling sweetness (citris) and a bread type malt. Beer taste like a mixture of grain and Carmel malt. Hops are light and sweet, perhaps hopped with some sort of sweet fruit I can’t exactly tell. Nice little winter warmer finishes much more bitter than when sipping it. Great in this OC mix 12 I’d recommend. obguthr (6454) - Staunton, Virginia, USA - DEC 22, 2011
Fairly nice mix of cherry, caramel, and grass aromas. Clear auburn, medium yellow head, decent lacing. Flavor is hay and leaves, subtle cherry notes, orange peel finish. Slightly resinous, but more than tolerable. A hoppy red, not imperial by any standard, nor is it an IPA. Nice beer and the brewery nailed it. AaronDaniel (35) - Connecticut, USA - JAN 25, 2013
This beer is hoppy (I don’t like "hoppy"). However, it’s subtley sweet caramel malt character balances this brew quite well. The grassy hops are checked by a pleasant hay malt. The dry finish lingers long rewarding your choice. This is easy drinking, comfort beer at it’s best.

Poured a very deep amber in color with a large, creamy, dense, head that diminished but lasted throughout. Sparkling. Very nice lacing. lightly bitter. Tastes of malt, with a nice hop balance. Medium body. Average texture. Average carbonation. Malt and hop finish is lightly bitter. Very appealing nose. Not an overdone or spicy winter ale. 12 ounce bottle. Pours a clear reddish amber color with a medium creamy off-white head. Good head retention and lacing. Aroma of grain, nutty notes, slight toastiness and a hoppy finish. The taste is toasted malts, caramel, herbal and citrus hops. Medium bodied. Well balanced. Good beer. MarkSachon (1029) - Pennsylvania, USA - JAN 17, 2012
From the four pack sampler case in a 12oz bottle. Pours nicely with a fair amount of head and pleasant aromas off the glass. Rich red hues hint of a full-bodied ale that doesn’t disappoint. The hops come through on the taste, somewhat on the strong side, but not overwhelming. Good choice for the winter and fall seasons. jsmerig (1623) - Pennsylvania, USA - DEC 13, 2012
Pours a deep ruby red with a very hoppy aroma. Taste is mildly sweet up front and finishing with a nice dry crispness. Expected it to be sweeter, but it has a nice clean flavor.

The appearance was a nice dark amber with a slight reddish hue. The half inch white head slowly dissipated into the body with some spider web lacing here and there. The smell is sweet with a touch of caramel malts. The taste is sweet and bitter in different aspects melding the caramel malts with the hops, pretty good. It feels great on the palate, good balance in the mouth. I’d say this is very drinkable. Overall, this is a pretty good beer.
