UPDATED: FEB 14, 2007 This beer is spot on! It pours a dark ruddy/cloudy copper colour and has a finger and a half or so of head which disippates quickly. Fruity, Appley aroma...This beer is loaded with english Fuggles hops which marries nicely with caramelly, toffee flavored malts. I believe I can taste a hint of complex Maris Otter malts. This brewer knew what he was up to - this beer is extremely well balanced. Overall taste is wonderful in this medium bodied, low to moderately carbonated, smooth, creamy drinking beer. This beer would pair wonderfully with an array of fine foods - or just by itself. Brewed with the spring water drawn from the headsprings of the Otter River, this beer has become a regular in my portfolio.

Pint at the Tilley Stone in an English pint/ Clear dark amber with a creamy off white head. Certainly good looking. Muted toffee aroma, leaning towards a milky fudge. I’m going to stick with "muted" as far as flavour is concerned. Some red =currant, raisin and toffee, but nothing assertive or taste bud catching. Alcohol well disguised. Drank more like an old fashioned premium bitter. Not great, but not bad.

UPDATED: MAY 24, 2017 Mahogany colour. Chocolate malts aroma and taste. Jammy fruits and toffee malts in there.Great strength. Lasting head. Nice on palate. Overall excellent.

Cask hand pull at the moon under water Watford Jdw. A deep amber copper coloured pour with a lasting beige head. Aroma is burnt toffee apple, brown sugars, little hot alcohol. Flavour is composed of.. Flavour is composed of sweet jammy fruits, toffee and liquorice,. Palate is sticky sweet, liquorice, smooth Cask condition. Not bad. Little hot alcohol in the finish.

Cask handpull at Hamilton Hall as Otter Head, 5.8%. Dark amber orange, still and translucent with an enduring foamy beige head. Aroma is toffee, bread, golden syrup and honey. Body is smooth with soft carbonation. Taste is honey on toast, some astringent resinous hops, spicy with some booze. Not too sweet despite the rich malts giving a honey vibe. Actually pretty good but I’d only want a half.

Bottle. Pours a clear amber colour with a thin off white head. Aroma of fruitcake, raisin, some toffee, slight red berries, a little red wine, a hint of brown sugar and subtle spicy hops. Taste of raisin, dark fruit, some red berries, slight fruitcake, a little toffee, a hint of metal and subtle spicy hops. Medium bodied and soft carbonation. A bittersweet, fruity, spicy hop bitterness in the finish. I like the complex aroma, the fruit and the amount of hoppy bitterness balancing out the heavy sweetness, however it’s not rich in flavour enough. Decent though.

Rune (12595) - Tromsø, NORWAY - OCT 5, 2016
Cask ale, shared with Finn at Brass Monkey. Deep mahogany coloured body, Frothy beige head leaving crocheted lacing on the glassware. Chocolate malts on the nose, lightly roasted. Fine blended taste profile of chocolate malts and dried fruits. Malt-fruity bitterness to a pleasant finish. Medium bodied. Perfect drink after my bacon and chicken salad (Plymouth 22.09.2016).

Pint in London Inn, Torquay. Pours rich dark brown with bubbly of white head that recedes with significant lacing. Aroma   raisins, port, rich maltiness. Strong alcoholic taste. Sweet in the palate.

Clear copper color with small tan foam. aromas of fresh ground malt, dusty flour, grains and hay. Palate, full body, thick-ish texture and sweet sugary finish. Taste, sweet of malt, biscuits and grains (simple). Overall, sticky, sickly sweet, not esiest beer, nice but not for me.

Appearance-light copper brown with disappearing golden foam, aromas- sweet malt, dates, and caramelised chestnuts (marrons Glacés). Palate- medium to full bodied, quite flat and quite sticky and oily in texture. Taste- malt, simple, dissapointing. Overall- great aromas but somewhat lacking in palate and flavour.
