UPDATED: JAN 3, 2007 Had an Otter Head recently on a trip to London and was very impressed to say the least. Brewed using local spring water from the Otter River. This ruddy colored, smooth, medium bodied beer uses a wonderful toffee flavored malt. It has a real Maris Otter malty taste up front followed by a delightful hoppy bitterness that keeps you coming back for more. I’d love to see more of this one!
Cask at GBBF 2017, Olympia, London, Aug 2017 - Clear dark brown in colour. Medium foamy off-white head. Good lacing. Malty; sweet malts, grainy, caramel. Fruity; sweet dark fruits. Syrupy mouthfeel. Pint at the Tilley Stone in an English pint/ Clear dark amber with a creamy off white head. Certainly good looking. Muted toffee aroma, leaning towards a milky fudge. I’m going to stick with "muted" as far as flavour is concerned. Some red =currant, raisin and toffee, but nothing assertive or taste bud catching. Alcohol well disguised. Cask hand pull at the moon under water Watford Jdw. A deep amber copper coloured pour with a lasting beige head. Aroma is burnt toffee apple, brown sugars, little hot alcohol. Flavour is composed of.. Flavour is composed of sweet jammy fruits, toffee and liquorice,. Palate is sticky sweet, liquorice, smooth Cask condition. Not bad. Little hot alcohol in the finish.

Cask handpull at Hamilton Hall as Otter Head, 5.8%. Dark amber orange, still and translucent with an enduring foamy beige head. Aroma is toffee, bread, golden syrup and honey. Body is smooth with soft carbonation. Taste is honey on toast, some astringent resinous hops, spicy with some booze. Not too sweet despite the rich malts giving a honey vibe. Bottle. Pours a clear amber colour with a thin off white head. Aroma of fruitcake, raisin, some toffee, slight red berries, a little red wine, a hint of brown sugar and subtle spicy hops. Taste of raisin, dark fruit, some red berries, slight fruitcake, a little toffee, a hint of metal and subtle spicy hops. Medium bodied and soft carbonation. A bittersweet, fruity, spicy hop bitterness in the finish. I like the complex aroma, the fruit and the amount of hoppy bitterness balancing out the heavy sweetness, however it’s not rich in flavour enough. Decent though. Cask ale, shared with Finn at Brass Monkey. Deep mahogany coloured body, Frothy beige head leaving crocheted lacing on the glassware. Chocolate malts on the nose, lightly roasted. Fine blended taste profile of chocolate malts and dried fruits. Malt-fruity bitterness to a pleasant finish. Medium bodied. Perfect drink after my bacon and chicken salad (Plymouth 22.09.2016). Pint in London Inn, Torquay. Pours rich dark brown with bubbly of white head that recedes with significant lacing. Aroma raisins, port, rich maltiness. Strong alcoholic taste. Sweet in the palate.
