Fruity, grassy aroma. A touch of grain, oats and loads of English hops in the back of the nose. Medium to full in body with a marvelous lush mouth feel that is just as crisp as it is smooth. Bursting with caramel malt (probably Maris Otter) and juicy fruit, hop bitterness is solid and flexes with a sharpness and toffee flavour. Malt is pretty thick with hints of bread crust and toasted grain. Lots of fruitiness with a wondeful toasty, biscuity, yeasty back. This beer pours a rich copper colour with a cloudy, light brownish highlight. A healthy off white lace wraps the inside of the glass with ample stickiness. Smells of soft caramel and toasted malt biscuit and bread with a dash of buttery toffee. Honey-like toffee and a currant and berry mix for fruitiness. Light twinge of ester alcohol in the nose. Smooth upfront with a light to moderate carbonation. Jam-packed with malt flavours of toasted caramel. Diacetyl is significant yet not to the point of being out of balance. The warming alcohol brings forth fruitiness and esters to round this big profile out. Hints of dark toffee and light berry fruit add to the complexity. Hop bitterness drops a great finishing flavour and oily herbal character. Caramel and grain in the finish with slight tangy hop overtones. Bitterness seems a step up for its style which is fine considering all of the malt flavour to deal with. This is a tremendously killer brew with expressive hop notes, balancing malt, and complex flavours flailing everywhere. A brew I will definitely revisit more than others in its category.
Cask @ GBBF 2016. Pours an amber color with a small off-white head. Has a fruity malty caramel aroma. Fruity malty caramel flavor. Has a fruity malty caramel spicy finish. Martin243 (1191) - Tyne & Wear, ENGLAND - MAY 25, 2017
Pint at the Tilley Stone in an English pint/ Clear dark amber with a creamy off white head. Certainly good looking. Muted toffee aroma, leaning towards a milky fudge. I’m going to stick with "muted" as far as flavour is concerned. Some red =currant, raisin and toffee, but nothing assertive or taste bud catching. Alcohol well disguised. Drank more like an old fashioned premium bitter. Not great, but not bad. Don2711 (480) - - MAY 23, 2017

Cask handpull at Hamilton Hall as Otter Head, 5.8%. Dark amber orange, still and translucent with an enduring foamy beige head. Aroma is toffee, bread, golden syrup and honey. Body is smooth with soft carbonation. Taste is honey on toast, some astringent resinous hops, spicy with some booze. Not too sweet despite the rich malts giving a honey vibe. Actually pretty good but I’d only want a half.

Fra fat på Brass Monkey, Plymouth 22 Sep 16. Mørk gyldenbrun. Juice-aktig. Lett plommearoma. Smaken fyldig. Sherry. Tørr avslutning. Hadde vært et utmerket dessertøl. Towey1989 (2916) - Stoke On Trent, Staffordshire, ENGLAND - OCT 8, 2016
Bottle. Pours a clear amber colour with a thin off white head. Aroma of fruitcake, raisin, some toffee, slight red berries, a little red wine, a hint of brown sugar and subtle spicy hops. Taste of raisin, dark fruit, some red berries, slight fruitcake, a little toffee, a hint of metal and subtle spicy hops. Medium bodied and soft carbonation. A bittersweet, fruity, spicy hop bitterness in the finish. I like the complex aroma, the fruit and the amount of hoppy bitterness balancing out the heavy sweetness, however it’s not rich in flavour enough. Decent though. Cask ale, shared with Finn at Brass Monkey. Deep mahogany coloured body, Frothy beige head leaving crocheted lacing on the glassware. Chocolate malts on the nose, lightly roasted. Fine blended taste profile of chocolate malts and dried fruits. Malt-fruity bitterness to a pleasant finish. Medium bodied. Perfect drink after my bacon and chicken salad (Plymouth 22.09.2016). Clear copper color with small tan foam. aromas of fresh ground malt, dusty flour, grains and hay. Palate, full body, thick-ish texture and sweet sugary finish. Taste, sweet of malt, biscuits and grains (simple). Overall, sticky, sickly sweet, not esiest beer, nice but not for me.
