Sample at the brewpub. Clear copper pour with a thin off-white head. Orangy Amarillo hop nose with some sweet malt balance. Citrusy grapefruit hop character up front with a bit of malt and a finish that’s a bit soapy. Tasty brew, aside from the finish. drfabulous (7941) - Lexington, Kentucky, USA - FEB 9, 2007
Decent, hoppy IPA at State College’s only brewpub. When you aren’t sure, choose this. BMan1113VR (7931) - Los Angeles, California, USA - OCT 22, 2008

UPDATED: AUG 17, 2014 I have had this one several times over the years and have remained quite fond of it. Sampled on draft at the brewery this beer poured a dark caramel amber color with a small off white head. The aroma was strong fruity and piney hops. The flavor was very strong pine and grapefruit with a sweet and tangy malt undertone. The finish is long, sweet and fruity. Full bodied. blankboy (7689) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - JUN 14, 2008
Bottle (22oz) shared with and courtesy of HogTownHarry. Pours a cloudy orange-copper with an average size diminishing frothy white head. Big hop and malt aroma with lots of citrus hops and bready caramel malt along with some spices -- quite nice. Flavour of big citrusy hops, quite bitter, with just enough malt backing it up along with a bit of spice, some alcohol and fruit. Long bitter finish. Medium to full bodied, sticky mouthfeel. Very good stuff, I’d love to have it again. Ughsmash (7508) - Pewaukee, Wisconsin, USA - APR 22, 2008
Bomber. Poured a rich, deeper orange with a short cap of off-white head. The aroma picked up orange and grapefruit citrus notes with sweet, lighter caramel and grassy notes backing it up.. rather juicy and powerful, yet approachable. The flavor had a bunch of grainy sweetness at the core that was hard to classify surrounded by a nice array of pine, citrus, and cat pee bitterness that lasted through the long finish.. alcohol was well hidden and served to warm up the back-end and throat. Medium-plus bodied with only OK flow on the palate.. I didn’t much dig the graininess and the bitterness was rough about 3/4 way through.. otherwise a very good brew. vtafro (7445) - Wayne, New Jersey, USA - DEC 29, 2010
Bottle, vferg brought to PPSG’10. White head, on an orange pour. Pine and slight citrusy hop aroma. A little warming, some grapefruit and pine as well on the flavor. CaptainCougar (7133) - Columbia, Maryland, USA - AUG 19, 2007
UPDATED: MAY 10, 2008 Bottle sampled on 5/10/08: Similar to the tap version with a nice fresh hoppy character throughout and a good sweet malty balance. A pretty nice IIPA.
On tap at the brewpub on 4/9/07: Pours a clear copper orange with a spotty-lacing white head. Big, sweet caramel malty aroma has a lot of grapefruity hops. Body starts with nice caramel malty sweetness and good earthy piny grapefruity hoppy character toward a crisp, slightly warming finish. A good double IPA.
