4.5 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
UPDATED: OCT 7, 2007 On cask. Really nice oaky chocolate arom. Thick rich coffee and chocolate cream Some vanilla and maple. Roasted grains and nice sweetness. Mild alcohol notes and vinuous plums. Dark black oily with thin lacing brown head. Thick oily body, light carbonation. Alcohol warming, creamy and smooth. Starts sweet and thick, with nice chocolatey coffee notes. Dry hops bitterness and roasted grains make for a pleasant finish. Mild molasses sweet tang and smoky notes in after. Overall, it’s just a bit too sweet and could use a bit more body. 9,5,8,5,16
From bottle. Alcohol vapors, chocolate, coffee, smoke, Tootsie Roll, vanilla, oak, plum. Thick black-brown clear body with thin chocolate brown lacing head. Thick oily body with medium carbonation. Taste is phenomenal - I think it’s even better in the bottle, if that’s possible. You can feel the effects when drinking a whole bomber yourself, for sure. But it’s addictive. Starts with sweet chocolate, coffee, and vanilla. Light smoke, bitter tang and rich overripe fruit. Toffee, oak, and Tootsie Roll. Mild to medium nutty sweet bitter finish with rich chocolatey coffee after. Just a damn fine example of the style without being overly dramatic. Tasty, tasty, tasty. 9,5,9,5,18.
On cask. Black pour with a long lasting brown head. Smells like chocolate and booze. Creamy palate, full bodied, quite a smoky finish. Lots of milky and roasted flavours, some sweetness, a decent impy. JStax (7123) - Devola/Marietta, Ohio, USA - JUN 18, 2017
Bottle shared at muckfest. The beer is a dark brown with no head. Sweet aroma, but smoky in the taste. Big body, medium carbonation. Kind of a weird beer. djd07 (15335) - Houston, Texas, USA - JUN 16, 2017
Bottle thanks to Sam. Pours a very dark brown with medium beige head that lasts. The aroma is wood, roasted malt, licorice, vanilla. Medium body, milk chocolate, roast, wood, nice dry finish, very good. can8ianben (1572) - State College, Pennsylvania, USA - APR 20, 2016
A lovely intense stout, bolder than most of Otto’s lineup! Well done, and happy to have this one around our town. JulianBaughman (6) - Altoona, Pennsylvania, USA - FEB 14, 2016 does not count
Hands down this is one of the best imperial stouts I've ever had. Huge roasted flavors with the look and feel that puts it over the top. If you are lucky enough to live close to this brewery, buy some now.

A good solid stout perfect for the summer since it is not a very heavy beer. This was a pleasant surprise enjoyed right out of the bottle while in the jacuzzi. Would like more of this for sure. callmemickey (4561) - Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA - APR 29, 2015
Black body, thing tan head, spotty lacing. Deep roast, bittersweet chocolate, earth, caramel, light coffee. Medium to full bodied, gentle carbonation, mild sweetness, mild bitterness in the finish. Darkmagus82 (2302) - - MAY 17, 2014
Poured form a 22 oz. bottle into snifter.
Appearance - A nice deep black with a light brown head upon pouring that dissipated fast to a nice wispy head; clung to glass while swirled.
Smell - Strong chocolate aroma with a bit of coffee after.
Taste - A strong cocoa presence with some sweeter vanilla and some sweet raisin flavors.
Mouthfeel - A moderate body, with a very smooth texture, although maybe a bit thinner then expected for abv.
Overall - A very good brew and one I would recommend. Not quite up to snuff to the bourbon aged on tap, but a very solid brew non the less. Dfonorow (2250) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - APR 29, 2014
Pre-DLD bottle share at Hampton Inn. Pour is deep brown with a small khaki head. Aroma and flavor of licorice candy, chocolate, roasted coffee, and dark fruit. Finish has a lot of coffee and smoke notes coming out. Beerman6686 (6607) - Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA - APR 21, 2014
This one poured a very dark brown with a tan head. Aroma was of smoke, ash, dark roast, grapes and tar. Flavor was of a good amount of dry smoke, tobacco, dark roast and dark chocolate. A great example of ther style.
