FROTHINGSLOSH (7796) - GREENSBURG, Pennsylvania, USA - SEP 26, 2006
UPDATED: AUG 27, 2007 Sampled on draft at the brewery this beer poured a dark reddish-brown color with a small tan head. The aroma is spicy rye and crisp malts. The flavor is sharp and crisp spicy rye with a moderate floral hop presence. The finish is long and bitter. The rye is definitely noticeable. 3fourths (9345) - Boulder, Colorado, USA - SEP 11, 2006
UPDATED: APR 1, 2009 Dark muddy maple brown colored body with a light tan film of a head. Nose has sweet maple syrup, light wood, brown sugar and caramel chocolate nuts. Texture is the most noticeable attribute of this beer, as it’s incredibly creamy and silky, full on the palate as well, not frothy at all, and not undercarbonated, but just really chewy and savory. The maple syrup component is lighter in the flavor than in the nose, and is complimented by a doughy yeast and toast flavor and some light oak and caramel. Overall it’s very tasty, though a little too sweet, and could benefit from some smoke. I would say it sits between doppelbock and bock, but has the gravity of doppelbock.
