Draft Q3 09. Could have sworn I not only rated this, but originated the listing. Oh well. Pours turbid dark straw coppery with minimal ow head. Nose is heavy resiny hops, florals, some spice, tangerine, honeydew, pear. Tastes very rich, a bit astringent late as it warms, with huge hops, citrus, yeasty esters, and tons of malt. Delicious, and a beer I’m glad they let me growler on a few occasions. auerbrau (3203) - Ithaca, New York, USA - AUG 28, 2009
On tap at the brewpub. Aroma is a unique blend of lemon, peach, and pear heavy yeast phenols and esters and strong, blunt resiny hop punch. Glowing, juicy, fresh and intoxicating. Pours a hazy orange-amber, with a thin rim in just white. Flavor is rich. Less saccharin than the regular Triple D. A rich bouquet of floral character blends with dry, crisp Belgian yeast character. The play of hops, belgian yeast, and alcohol are just fantastic. At a more restrained ABV than the regular this is more palatable, more expressive, and less abusive. A long, juicyfruit, prickly dry hop finish that runs for quite a while. Nice!
