Oud Beersel Kriek Lambic from Brouwerij Oud Beersel is a classic among Belgian beers. Created by adding whole fresh cherries to young lambic, which provides both seasoning and sparks another fermentation resulting in a product of great complexity. It has the acidity of champagne, the bouquet and delicate flavor of cherries, and balance of almondy dryness. Oud Beersel Kriek is the missing link between beer and wine.

DISCLAIMER: This is a special export version, initially made by Frank Boon, but it is continued by the new owners of Oud Beersel. It is different as it is pasteurised and some sugar was added, this to preserve the fruit flavour which normally disappear after 6 months. So if you had a Kriek from Oud Beersel, please check whether you had the "Oude Kriek" variant or the this version for export only.

Shared at Superbowl party 2017. Muddy brown in color with a bit of pink and cherry taste.

From bottle at Le Poechenellekelder, Brussels, 28.11.17. Dark red. Pink head. Fine aroma of fresh cherries. Superb taste of fresh cherries, well balanced moderate sourness. Quite dry and lively carbonated. Excellently quaffable!

12.7 oz. bottle, consumed on 12-11-16. “25.04.2016,” presumably a bottled on date. Lovely, floral, fruity smell of cherry yogurt. Mineral smell. Cherry scent is quite strong. Some Band-Aid and dust in aroma. Pours a hazy, reddish maroon with a moderate amount of light pink to rose head. Good pink lacing. Excellent and highly attractive appearance. Heavy cherry taste. Too fruity in fact; maraschino cherry. Fresh cherry tartness does emerge on multiple sips. Light body. Not much liveliness. Subpar palate effects. I’d prefer less cherry and more tartness. Hopefully this will improve with age.

Bottle - Sweet cherry notes. Deep purple with no head. Sweet cherry and a decent finish. A bit simple but nice.

375mL bottle, pours a cloudy dark burgundy with a small off-white head. Aroma brings out sugary cherries and light funk. Flavour is very sweet, with sugary cherries drowning out everything else. No funk or depth. It’s a pleasant sweet fruit beer, but nothing else.

lupulist (354) - Vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA - SEP 27, 2016
Pours a deep ruby colour with a thin head. Aroma of cherry candy or cherry cough syrup. Tastes equally sweet, with very little carbonation. Interesting flavours and texture, too sweet for me.

Oakes (19931) - Vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA - SEP 27, 2016
Deep red, purply colour. Not much head. The aroma is cherry, and the palate is this sweet, cherry character. Sort of heavy body. And quite candyish.Well, it ends up as passable.

badhack (598) - San Francisco, California, USA - SEP 26, 2016
Pours a raspberry red with a bubbly pink head. Wood, cherry, berry. Malt, bread, baking spice. Tart finish, not overwhelming.
