COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Geuze is a classic among the Belgian Ales, following spontaneous fermentation in wooden barrels (no yeast or sugar added), young and old Lambic are blended; which results in a dry, tart and fruity wine like taste. Oud Beersel Geuze Ale is the white sparkling wine of the ale world.

Bottle pours a slightly hazy golden/orange with a large fluffy white head. Aroma is slightly muted, sweet and tart, horse blanket and barn yard funk with some oak, mellow and inviting. Lively prickly carbonation, taste is bright, mellow funk, lots of acidity but not overwhelming with some oak, grapes and some white pepper with a dry crisp finish. Very nice!

Bottle 2014 at Luppolo Station (Rome). Hazy golden color, regular white foam. Nose: lemon grass, citronella. Mouth: easy, a bit thin, the overall is pretty simple but the finish is grapefruit and tart. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Uzupełnienie profilu notatki.
Piana niewielka, opada.

As I remember my first experience with this style pre-beerexploring it was rather awful. Now I say pleasant beer pretty much recommended. Yummy.

Bb 2035. Hazy yella rocky white head that dissipates. Classic funky yeadty aroma. Tart with lots of co2, immediately like a sparkling dry white wine. Not as sour as other lambic blends. Definitely woody, really balanced. Refreshing, tart, prickly. Great oude gueuze

Bottle from LCBO. Corked popped & honey golden liquid dropped. The foam rushes to a sudden fizz climax & then vanishes quicker than truth. Aromas are strong & in some ways overshadow the subdued flavours. First impressions: green apples, brisk white wine & ginger ale. I dig the tartness & the dryness & the tingling mouthfeel. Dig deeper & there’s a yogurt left out of the fridge for days funkyness. Which is cool, if you dig that kinda thing. Nice.

375 ml cork bottle as “Beersel Oude Geuze Vieille” opened with very loud “pop” bought at HK Brewcraft in Central.

Looks: Clear dull golden colour with a ring of dirt-like yeast sediments; One and a quarter finger head with crumpety white foam which last for 2 minutes; Fair sticky lacing with active slight carbonation.

Aroma: Very fragrant and tart malt, with strong white wine, strong white grapes, yoghurt, wine vinegar, strong funk, lemon, light barrels and tannic. Pretty pleasing!

Taste: Very strong tart taste of malt, with strong yoghurt, strong white wine, grape skins, raw green fruits, alcohol, carbo, light floral, moderate funky spice, light biscuits, strong lemon, light bitter hops and grass.

Body: Medium body. Dry and slick palate.

Mouth Feel: Good maltyness in a solid carbo-ish background, a lot like a sparkling wine. Very tart but not too dry, very white winey and fairly alcoholic, full of unripe fruits and green grass. Yoghurty but not too vinegary, moderately funky spicy with light floral with no sweetness. Strong lemon to round. Refreshingly nice!

Hoppiness: Lemon in nose, floral, strong lemon and green grass in taste. Bitterness is low for an abrupt, low astringent grassy malty finish.

After Taste: Fairly dry. Winey fruity and very tart to mouth.

Comments: This one isn't as complex as some other Gueuze, but the focus is more on very tart sparkling white wine with green fruityness. Bubbly and exciting to drink. A keeper!
