2017 release. It has a real lambic smell but unfortunately in taste it is a bit like wild ale with cherries from USA - super sour one. Good but not great.

From bottle, deep intense cherry aroma, cinnamon pits, taste is more acidic, tart, citrus, strong tart cherries

I like that this new Oude Kriek from Oud Beersel is completely different than the regular one in their portfolio. The Schaarbeekse are bright and lovely on the nose but the acidity they bring is a tad too sharp for my liking. Secondary flavors include cinnammon, herbal notes and wooden notes.

bottle shared by tom10101, many thanks man! pours hazy bright red-purple with a nice creamy pink cap offering some retention and lacing. bretted cherries, tons of cinnamon, lots of herbal notes, medium acidity - potent citric acid from cherries; spices. bright carbonation, light body - oily; tart if not sour herbal-cinnamon finish. oude kriek has been preferred - still a very nice kriek wit nice funk, potent that is.

UPDATED: NOV 18, 2017 Bottle shared with the boys. Huge pop at opening, beautiful bright deep red pour with foamy pink head. Aroma is super intense, rich cherry, cinnamon, light pepper. Taste is sharp, very acidic, sharp acidic cherry notes, a bit too much. Palate is med light bodied with good carbonation, very very dry. Good.

Bottle thanks to bursprak. Pours deep red with a white head. Aroma of marzipan, cherries, vanilla, red sweet sweets and slight spices. Taste of cherries, marzipan, sour cherries, classic tart and slight funky kriek notes. Pretty good indeed.
