The Pale is our Queen Ale and what started it all for us at OMF.  Back in the days of brewing in Bryan’s kitchen, the Pale Ale was the first brew to convert us all to believers.  The Pale is medium bodied, with a sweet finish accented by American hops.  It’s the beer we’d sip on all day if we could.

Tap at Our Mutual Friend. Pours hazy orange with a small, fizzy white head, short retention with no lacing. Aroma is earthy and spicy coffee with dark fruits, cookie and toast malt. Flavor is malt forward with light hops, bitterness and fruity esters with a dry finish. Light body and carbonation.

Pour on tap at the brewery, hazy yellow pour with white head, aroma brought notes of severe veggie, caramel corn, butter, slight earth, grain. Taste is nasty baby diaper, earth, veggie, butter, nothing salvageable in this.

On tap at the brewery. Pour is hazy amber with a small white head. Wet dog, caramel corn, somewhat roasty, husky aroma. Taste is a little better, but still has a lot of off flavors; caramel, earthy somewhat dirty hops, floral and light honey, cooked veggies. Light body with high carbonation. Really need to work on this one, as it smells terrible, like a lot of their beers.

Hazy rustic gold with a small foamy head. Nose was a mix of chewy caramel candy and green vegetal hops. The flavor was just as sweet as I expected, full of toffee and caramel esters with a calm and balancing hoppy flavor that was subtly floral and mildly leafy, with minimal bitterness, not as vegetal tasting I was afraid of. But it still didn’t do it for me.

Tap at OMF - hazy orange pour - this beer is pretty effing husky - a lot of husky grains in the nose and flavor - much like the saison, a fair amount of dense, muddled yeast flavors - muted but earthy hops flavors, with moderate bitterness - light acidity - some bready malt notes - hops finally shine in the finish, presenting as very peppery and lightly citric - I really see a lot of potential in this beer, provided they can reduce the huskiness in the overall malt character.
