On tap at the brewery. Dark clear mahogany color with a one finger head. Vinous with anise and notes on the aroma, somewhat fruity. Flavor is vinous and somewhat sweet with blackberry, roast, and anise. Body is on the fuller side and somewhat syrupy with average carbonation. Pretty solid offering. ruskiimperial (308) - Richmond, Virginia, USA - JUL 7, 2011
From a growler courtesy of vacation travels. Poured a dark brown/burgundy. The foam is very thin and quickly dissipates. Aroma is heavy on molasses and dark fruit. Taste has some belgian candi sugar characteristics, though the dark fruit comes out stronger and the beer warms up. Body is medium. Alcohol is quite well hidden. A quite decent desert beer. strongpieman (1651) - Mount Airy, Maryland, USA - JUL 6, 2011
Draft at restaurant. Brown, clear, little head. Smooth and powerful taste, toffee. Pretty nice beer. Dogbrick (13010) - Columbus, Ohio, USA - JUN 7, 2011
Growler courtesy of a traveling colleague. The beer pours a dark mahogany-brown color with a medium foamy beige head that dissipates steadily. Strings of lacing on the glass. Aroma of dark fruits and caramel malt. Medium, smooth body with characteristics of a Belgian/Doppelbock. Notes of caramel malt, earth, bananas and yeast. The finish is dark fruits and caramel and a slight alcohol tinge. Slightly above average overall. JaBier (7972) - Capital City, Ohio, USA - JUN 5, 2011
Growler shared by Dogbrick. Clear red/copper pour with a medium beige head. Aroma of banana, caramel, candi sugar and dark fruit. Flavor of banana and fruit syrup with caramel character before an estery finish.
