3.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
At Tadgs. Aroma: Tropical fruit, but not very aromatic. Palate: Full-bodied without being heavy. Flavor: Pear, tropical fruit (blend of pineapple, guava and papaya). Bitterness kicks in and lingers. Finishes with a dry dark bitter chocolate. Most of the Outsider beers at this event didn’t have much in the way of aroma but they were very tasty otherwise.
This is a rich malty beer with a kick. It had a nice golden color with a light carbonation. It has a lot of flavor and is a solid double but I felt that it wasn’t as complex as most belgian doubles I have had. KyotoLefty (10694) - Kyoto, JAPAN - JAN 21, 2013
Draught at Tadgs. Cloudy blond. Clearly not a traditional double. Yeasty, malty nose, stewed stone fruits, grass, honey, some citrus. Sweet fruit flavor, honey, grass, and earth. Slightly saison-like, though sweeter, nd a dry enough finish. Very good.
