UPDATED: OCT 28, 2013 On tap @ Kyoto. Buonissima! profuma di caffè , di malto tostato e di liquirizia in bastoncini. Alla vista è scura/impenetrabile, con schiuma cremosa molto compatta color caramello. Buon lacing e buona persistenza. In bocca è caffè su tutto, poi esce l’amaricato, non pungente, più erbaceo, e torna la liquirizia. Il calore alcolico è deciso ma non eccessivo. Corpo tenue, acquoso, in bocca è vellutata con finale breve e poco carbonata.
From tap (half pint) at Lodi, Higashi-Nakano. Black color. Dense off white to beige head. Aroma’s: roasted malts, mocha, berries. Retronasal it’s red fruit, roasted, coffee/mocha. Half pint, keg, garage 39 osaka Japan. Pours black with a thin tan head subsiding average slow. Scent is light hints of fruit malt, maybe berries. Vanilla lightly. My partner smells bourbon. Tap at Waseda Oktoberfest. Pours dark brown, almost black. Aroma has strong coffee roast malts, deep black bread maltiness. Tastes bit sourish, sweet and chocolate bitter. Would expect a bit more body from an Imperial Stout and maybe less sour notes. This one is not bad though, has a decent roast profile,chocolate and cocoa. Unfortunately also a bit watery.

Aroma: Chocolate, coffee.
Palate: Full-bodied. Very smooth.
Flavor: Rich chocolate liquor, caramel, coffee, light bitter burnt grain and perhaps a hint of grass.
Comment: Smooth entry. Expanding mid-palate that gradually turns into a dry finish.

Keg half pint in Popeyes. Surprised by the averagey rates for this. My second Outsider beer and another that impresses me. Served perfectly in Popeyes in a lovely wide chalice, like brandy glass. Very dark brown to black, opaque, thin off white to tan head. Nose is chocolate, sweet, roasted malt, black coffee, alcohol and coffee liqueur, maybe touch of sherry. UPDATED: APR 17, 2014 Draught at Bungalow. Jet black with a tan head. A sweet chocolate aroma, not much espresso. Very sweet flavour, more than I expected for the style. Draught at Bungalow. Jet black, thin tan head. Espresso and malt nose. Sticky but not overly so. Well-balanced flavours of dark chocolate, licorice, dab of soy sauce. Satisfying without being over-heavy. Delightful.
