On cask (handpump) at Great British Beer Festival, day 3 on 6 August 2009. Very dark brown. Slightly oily consistency. Very dry. Lots of chocolate. Perhaps not quite outstanding but very good indeed.

Loose head. Some nice roast but rather predictable on the nose. Very tingly and bitter. I quite like it for the drinkabilty. Something of a dark IPA to it. Green and tingly. anders37 (26878) - Malmö, SWEDEN - DEC 6, 2009

Cask (handpump) @ GBBF 09, Great British Beer Festival, Earls Court Exhibition Centre, London, England.Christian (13775) - Odense, DENMARK - NOV 16, 2009
Clear dark brown color with a average, fizzy, good lacing, mostly lasting, off-white head. Aroma is moderate to heavy malty, dark roasted, burnt, licorice, coffee notes. Flavor is moderate to heavy sweet and bitter with a average to long duration. Body is medium, texture is watery to oily, carbonation is soft to flat.
¨Black with a small off-white head. Aroma is fruity with roasted malt. Dry and very roasted flavour, lasting long in the aftertaste. A little simple and one dimensional.

Fruit and roast aromas. Small beige head. Dark coloured and rich on the palate with some alcohol present. Fruity and hoppy. A little dryness in a very bitter lasting roast finish. cgarvieuk (25724) - Edinburgh, SCOTLAND - SEP 7, 2009

(Cask at GBBF, London Earl’s Court, 6 Aug 2009) Dark brown colour, almost black. Frothy, beige head. Malty, roasted nose with notes of dried fruit, liquorice and chocolate. Malty, roasted taste with chocolate, liquorice, coffee and a generous coffee bitterness. Full body, thick mouthfeel. Fairly sweet. Very nice stout. Possibly not outstanding, but at least excellent. Cask in the market porter. Alroudn rating: Black roasty malts, some coffee and small chcolate helps the balance but roasty bitterness dominates mainly. Its not my style, but its not overly offensive for me. SaintMatty (7476) - Uppsala, SWEDEN - SEP 1, 2009
Cask (GBBF 2009) - Black in colour. Slightly hoppy aroma with hints of dried fruit, chocolate and coffee. Slightly hoppy taste with coffee, chocolate and a sour element. Tasty and full bodied.
