Draught at Canary Square, 2/8/17.JBPortland (1564) - Hampton Roads, Virginia, USA - OCT 26, 2015
Dark copper with lighter golden hues and a high clarity. Beige head atop is small-to-medium-sized and shows moderate to low retention.
Fruity in the nose, though joined by equal amounts of bready, lightly caramel-accented malts. Yellow fruits with even a light citrus hint, vanilla and a touch of alcohol mixing with the esters, on the finish. Pretty faithful rendition of a BdG, though this one is fruitier and much more dry than many of the strongly malt-forward examples. No funny stuff going on though, which is nice (high alpha hops, mixed ferm tartness/funk).
Dry and with grainy interludes in the mouth but with some softer malt textures as it warms. Vanilla and caramel with light honey and lots of orange rind, cherry, white pepper and apple through the middle. Some light sharpness/booziness is by biggest complaint and it seems to stem from the relative dryness and heavy reliance on specialty malts here which aren’t able to completely soak up/mask the alcohol. Otherwise, some interesting yeast esters and a low but engaging/tight carbonation with no flaw.
On tap at GFTW 2015 pours dark brown orange with 2 finger head. Nose has lots of musty grape, some vinous berry and dark fruit. Taste is wet bready grain, red grape, light berry and dark fruit, light malty crust and spice. Finishes with a bit of grape sweetness, grape juice, dark bread, slightly chalky. The overwhelming character is Welch’s grape. Interesting but perhaps has already peaked. bottleforager (3208) - Gray, Maine, USA - OCT 26, 2014
Draft pour at Goods from the Woods ’14. Pours a vibrant amber color with a finger of tight eggshell foam. Lots of fruity esters, rustic buckwheat honey, toasted grain, sourdough bread, nuanced peppery spice and a hint of tart apple and clean bitterness on the finish. Have had this a few times over the last year and this beer is becoming much more focused with time. Travlr (26091) - Charlotte, North Carolina, USA - AUG 26, 2014

Draft at Proletariat with Linh and Andy. Pours a deep body with thick off white lacing. Aroma is funky, grassy hop, melon and other fruits. Mouthfeel is medium and soft, super sessionable with a nice mix between the crisp fresh grass flavor the the slightly funky, fruit character; additional notes of grain, flowers and spice. Nice. MrChopin (4305) - Baltimore, Maryland, USA - SEP 30, 2013
hazy orange, nearly transparent, thin white head with ring. Old tea and watery grain nose, playdoh and dandelion. Flavor is heavily spiced, dry burlap with heavy oak bitterness, light orange and wood through the end. Too thin to support, hoppy as hell and tasting like fall but thin thin thin. PhillyCraft (7934) - Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA - SEP 14, 2013
Tap at Zwanze day, OG Deluxe pours plum red with medium sized off white head, not a whole lot of lacing. Aromas and flavor are very floral with roses, orange peel, plum, dandelion, Belgian spice, and crisp malt. Easy going especially after all the battery acid I drank that afternoon. Nice biere de garde ..Cheech ahhh. argo0 (14127) - Washington DC, USA - AUG 15, 2013
