Farmhouse Pale Ale is our American interpretation of a hoppy saison. Belgian pilsner malt provides the base for an abundance of American hops and our farmhouse yeast to shine together in this refreshing ale.

Tap at Craft Heads. Big citrus nose with lots of juicy grapefruit and lemon zest alongside some pithy bitterness. As it warms up some dankiness comes out with more lemon zest. Bitter finish with good citrus and pith notes. The name is all over the this one. Great stuff.

On tap at the Modern Times Festival of Funk. It pours a pale yellow color with a white head. The aroma is a little bready/dought with some herbal and flowery notes. The flavor is very floral. Bright rose-like notes with hints of vanilla and soft funk. Good level of phenols and flowery bitterness in the finish. Liked.

At Jeffrey. Clear golden white frothy head. Nose is barnyard and some citrus. Tastes of banana, herbal, barnyard, white bread, peach, and musky. Decent but some slight odd flavors on aftertaste.

Draft at When Pigs Fly in Kittery, ME. A well crafted, complex farmhouse pale ale. Classic American hops are all over this, but they never get out of balance. Interesting, complex saison yeast taste -- I spent the whole time drinking it trying to figure out if it was mixed fermentation, but with no luck. Very good.

Pours a cloudy, pale golden straw color with banana hues and a 1.5 finger frothy white head. Good retention, slowly fading into a thick, lasting ring. Spotty lacing left behind. Musty aroma with funky farmhouse yeast, light fruit, bread and peppery spice. Subtle brett presence as well but smells more like a standard saison/pale ale hybrid. Pale biscuit malts with cracker and light fruit. Medium body with nice balance of farmhouse/saison character and pale ale notes. Dry and musty with farmhouse funk and musty brett countered by light fruit, peppery spice, banana and bread. Slightly dry in the finish. Not overly complex but well balanced and easy to drink.
