3.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Cask from The Railway Tavern, Chelmsford. Light brown with little head. Sweet and syrupy, though quite pleasant initially. Glad I’d only ordered a half as sweetness became a little overwhelming towards end.
Cask at the Bear (JDW), Maidenhead, ABV 4.7%. Copper coloured with a thin cream head; toasted grain aroma; soft and biscuity in the mouth, the honey adds a syrupy texture without being too sweet; the finish spicy and fruity with lingering honey. Rather subdued overall, but a pleasant pint. SudsMcDuff (8438) - .....Manchester United.........., Texas, USA - MAR 14, 2013

Cask (handpump) @ Wenlock Arms, 26 Wenlock Road, London, Greater London, England N1 7TA.
Clear dark brown amber colour with a small to average, fizzy, good - fair lacing, mostly to fully diminishing, off-white head. Aroma is moderate malty, chocolate, caramel, light roasted, light toffee and honey, light hoppy. Flavor is moderate sweet and bitter with a average to long duration, chocolate malt, honey sweet, licorice notes. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is flat.
Wood and honey on nose, malt in body is overshadowed by more honey. It’s not actually cloying but it’s close. Needs better balance.

Cask conditioned at The Woolpack, Banbury. Amber brown with white head. Honeyed malty beer, like a sweet malt biscuit with a dose of caramel. Interesting, but tiring on the palate through a whole pint. Little in the way of hops to break it up. It’s ok, but I would have a half next time.
