Bottled. Amber colour, small beige head. Aroma is very much barley wineish with all the malts, plum and alcohol in the body. Flavour is raisins, some bready malts, caramel malts and alcohol. A very pleasant and enjoyable barley wine. TBone (17441) - Pori, FINLAND - JUL 3, 2009
Bottled (PBF, BB 02/2019).
Chestnut brown-red, small off-white head. Strong hoppy-fruity nose. Sweet and hoppy, quite malty, caramel. Very double IPA -like.Long warming hoppy aftertaste. Interesting. sayravai (4710) - Helsinki, FINLAND - JUL 3, 2009
(Bottled) Hazy medium amber with almost no head. Slightly sweet, pleasantly fruity aroma of barley and aromatic hops. Very malty, grainy flavor with cerealy notes and not as much hops as in the aroma. Quite full-bodied, low-carbonated palate. A clean and malty brew with nice hop aroma. omhper (24973) - Tyresö, SWEDEN - MAY 23, 2009
Draught at Ushi-Tora, Tokyo. Hazy brownish amber, no head. Salty woody nose. Fairly sweet with dense full body. Well rounded and elegant with a flavour reminiscent f mature plum wine. Warming with growing late bitterness. Complex and full flavoured. thebeertourist (5189) - Oslo, NORWAY - APR 18, 2009
From bottle at Wachi, Kyoto. Cloudy copper with a small froth. Potent raisins aroma. Great raisins flavours with hints of nuts. Decent bitterness to balance. Well-crafted.

Caramel brown in color with a wispy head. Malty, sweet, dark fruits, hops, oranges, and alcohol in the aroma. Syrupy thick body. Flavor is of deep fruit, thick caramel malts, cherries, honey, chocolate, toasted malts, with light wood. Pretty hoppy, as well. Finish is bitter and dry with plenty of alcohol. Whoa, a damn fine barley wine. jonno (2756) - JAPAN - MAR 8, 2009
UPDATED: MAR 13, 2009 This reminds me of the Foghorn by Anchor, though slightly toned down. Coats the tongue nicely in hops. Quite alcoholic on the nose and on the palate. Very sticky with notes of apple, caramel and wood. Enjoyable and good price (I got this for only a bit more than the IPA). Didn’t improve much as it warmed strangely enough. motelpogo (7704) - Plzen, CZECH REPUBLIC - DEC 28, 2008

UPDATED: JAN 28, 2009 2007 version, bottle.
Dark brown with a reddish-orange tint, high, foamy off-white head. Very fruity, hoppy aroma, with dark fruits, a good amount of sweetness, port, and strong malt. But hops predominate like in a Bigfoot. Very appealing aroma. Very sweet flavor, fruity, cherries, caramel, honey, alcohol heat. Good hops for bittering and aroma. Great balance. Very complex and interesting, and a great, dry finish of hops, rich malt, sweet, and heat. A very nicely done barley wine. This has perfect body and carbonation. Really well done. A treat. Best BW I’ve had from Japan.

Dark mahogany color. Sweet malty nose. Cherries, oranges, wood. Smooth malty mouth with cherries, oranges, marshmellows, milk chocolate and pears. Very English in style. Alcohol is well hidden. A unique finish that has lingering blood orange notes. Definetely one of Japan’s best barley wines (though that doesn’t say much)
