This porter was dark, smooth, robust, coffee, lots of declious stuff put in to remind me of ink
On tap at Black Hammer. Pours a clear cola brown with a thin white head. Big citrus on the nose, roast, a touch of chocolate, orange. Medium-bodied, roast, a touch of cocoa, earthy grapefruit and pith. Slow roast, big citrus on the finish, well balanced. BMan1113VR (7931) - Los Angeles, California, USA - NOV 3, 2012
On tap. Pours with a near black hued body and a lasting tan head that leaves good lace. Aromas are perfumey, roasty, herbal, citrus, pine and grassy. Overall light roast, medium to strong hop, low ester. Flavors are of fresh baked bread, doughy grainy malt character, medium roast, fuller pine character but a smooth, low-cohumulone bitterness. Grassy finish. Medium strong carbonation a bit fuller bodied. Feels a bit soapy in the finish. brokensail (16432) - Dublin, California, USA - OCT 19, 2012
Almost black in color with a tan head. Roasted malt up front with a really strong fruit character. Lots of grapefruit, tangerines, lemon, and peach. There’s a bit of malt sweetness, and a light pine note. A bit of grass and Jolly Rancher on the palate. Some mild roast, a definite bitterness, and some sweet peach. Lots of lemon, tangerine, and grapefruit. barn0216 (545) - California, USA - SEP 6, 2012
Pitch black pour, medium head. Smells floral. Taste is light coffee and resiny hop bitterness. Interesting but not a favorite.

Tap at Beer Revolution. Deep black pour with a thick tan head. The aroma is a little bit chewy and roasty with a lot of heavy earthy hop aroma. A little bit of sweet chewy malt along with a nice balance of malt and hops. The roastiness makes it feel more like a porter than a black IPA. Regardless, it’s well-made.

A - Served a dark black with a thick frothy finger of chocolate head. Head fades down at a normal pace leaving behind some good lace.
S- Aroma is a mix of roasted and burnt chocolate and caramel malt with some earthy hops.
T - Starts off with some slightly burnt sweet caramel malt with some pine and earthy hops. Through the middle, more burnt malts comes through with some chocolate, bitterness, and just a touch of dark fruit. The finish is a mix of roasted chocolate malt with some bitterness and a touch of yeast.
M - Medium bodied with moderate carbonation. Feels smooth with a roasty and dry finish.
D - Very drinkable. Nice malt and hop balance with some good roasted malt flavor. Could have used just a touch more body. beersearcher (2382) - Glendale, California, USA - MAY 5, 2012
Poured a brown black. Yet another in a long line of more malty BIPAs. Not bad of it was a hoppy mild but this doesn’t turn my hop crank. Aroma is medium low and bitterness does not linger enough. marcus (10142) - Sacramento, California, USA - APR 18, 2012
On tap at City Beer. Pours dark brown with a thin tan head and a chocolate aroma. There is a rich chocolate flavor with lots of treacle and a long dry finish. Very tasty. bb (9241) - Alamo, California, USA - FEB 17, 2012
Draft. Dark mahogony beer with a tan head. Light grapefruit aroma. Pine and light grapefruit flavor with light darker malts. Medium bodied. Decent bitterness. Pine and light grapefruit lingers with light caramel.
