355mL bottle, pours jet black with a small brown head. Nose brings out rich wood, bourbon barrels, and some roasted malt in back - very complex. Flavour is exceptionally well-balanced, with many different elements working in good harmony - with moderate bourbon barrels of high quality, a little wood, some roasted malt and a little caramel. Now this is how you do a bourbon barrel imperial stout. Extremely highly drinkable and smooth on the palate. Wonderful stuff. jtclockwork (17631) - , New Jersey, USA - JUL 30, 2014
Bottle at weekly tasting. Shared by me. Thanks Kevin. Pours black brown head. Nose/taste of roast chocolate, dirty cocoa, vanilla, coffee and whiskey/oak. Medium body. crossovert (14128) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - JUN 22, 2014
Unknown canadian bottle size. Balck pour, really nice sweet and cocoa interplay with the caramel and bourbon and the stout base. jercraigs (11071) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - MAR 10, 2014
2014-03-05. Black body, modest tan head fades a bit. 3+ Aroma is alcoholic, but not overly so, bourbon? Mild mocha roast notes grow as it warms. Flavour is relatively bitter, with a good amount of mocha and roasty bitterness, moderate alcohol character throughout, bourbon/whiskey notes come out in the finish and linger in the aftertaste. The barrel is quite present but not over the top. Smooth average plus to medium bodied palate has lower carbonation that it deserves. 3+ Mild alcohol tingle in the mouth lingers, but the alcohol is surprisingly restrained otherwise. Good, I don’t love the barrel influence and it covers up some lovely chocolate and mocha undertones but I suspect that the base stout might be less complex than it is with the barrel. Decent. Bottle. Inky viscous pour with a finely bubbled low brown head. Sweet bourbon, vanilla, chocolate, bread, treacle, lots of bourbon but not harsh. The body has just enough malt to carry the bourbon load, and overall this remains rich and satisfying, although to be truly outstanding it coul e little more malt-heavy, a little chewier. But I loved it anyway, just to be clear.

[6213-20140305] Bottle. Soya and roasted syrup aroma. Black body with a quick foamy tan head. More soya sauce and roasted burnt barrel in the flavour. Full body is quite smooth. Tasty. (8/3/8/4/15) 3.8 DrSilverworm (10000) - Cincinnati, Ohio, USA - JUN 22, 2014
12oz bottle. Tasted at RBSG grand tasting post-tasting. Dark brown, near black color. Thin ring of off-white head. Dots of lace. Kind of a bigger whiskey barrel heat, evident just in the nose. Dark chocolate aroma. Some coffee. Whiskey. Moderate sweet taste, some barrel, moderate bitter, little dry alcohol. Medium to bigger body. Smooth, kind of soft chewy lighter carbonation. Very light carbonation. Light slick. Hint of vegetal. Solid BA imperial stout. Erzengel (9750) - Wuppertal, GERMANY - JAN 20, 2015
Smooth and intense viscous beginning. Lots of wood, nice intense whisky aroma. The mainpart is thick, nice roasted malt, moderate bitterness. Intense and great whisky aroma with the great and deep sticky malty body. The aftertaste is long, intense dark, dried plums in whisky with lots of wood. Absolutely great. Hints of bitterness, round! solidfunk (9729) - Washington D.C., Washington DC, USA - DEC 26, 2016
A little over enthusiastic on the barrel like rolling over Niagara Falls. Black pour with decent head and lacing. Roast and whiskey with a little dark chocolate. Caramel. Bottle.
