Rating #2271 - 2015.12.20- Bottle #20 in the 2015 Craft BeerAdvent Calendar Pour is pretty standard, hazy golden orange with a bubbly white head. Aroma is orange, lemon citrus sweetness. Mouthfeel is crisp, medium-heavy alcohol character, medium carbonation. Taste is crisp but a bit of a mess for a tripel. Gets a grainy malty note that really overarches the yeast character. Single 355 ml bottle from opened leftover Christmas sampler cases from Sobeys Liquor, served in a pint glass. Pours a mildly hazy straw yellow that clears in time, with some fine, slow, widely dispersed carbonation streams, and a short-lived, milky head that retains only a skiff of foam, and leaves somewhat sudsy lace patches. Aroma has soft tropical and red fruits prominent, with faint touches of banana, bubblegum, and clove, as well as whispers of malt. Flavor is similar; a mildly sweet tropical punch kind of flavor with a small malt backbone, a tiny amount of bitterness, and the slightest flicker of heat in the throat. Moderately chewy and creamy-textured, with a brief finish. You could call this a "tripel on training wheels" for those like me who don’t care to have my taste buds smashed in with super-sweet and/or overripe candy, gum, banana, and tropical flavors. I really enjoyed it - the drinkability of this 9.2% abv ale is off the scale, with nothing to keep your sips paced or governed - but others may bemoan the softness and lack of other aroma and flavor notes. For me, though, it’s irresistable.

330mL bottle, pours a clear pale golden with a small white head. Aroma brings out Belgian yeast, dough, almond extract and estery notes. Flavour is similar, with almond extract, ester notes and yeast. Pretty everything wrong about North American tripels -- sweet, estery, and phenolic. Golden color, bright, with small head. Some almond aroma, puckery flavor, sweet, boozy, and with the strong estery component of fake American/Belgian yeast.
I find this one really hard to swallow.

Sweet, fruity flavour with yeast, spice, grass and a dry, bitter, warming alcohol finish. Medium body with an oily texture and average carbonation. 355 ml bottle poured at home. Day 20 of the craft beer advent calendar. Pours a cloudy orangeish color with a plain white head. Smells fruity, like peaches, although the first smell I got was something like Old Spice cologne. Tastes like yeast and fruit put together. Finishes with a not very good bitter taste. This beer does not work.
