Enjoyed greatly at Die Hausbrauerei Päffgen pub. It poured out of a wooden cask via gravity feed into 0.2l tall straight sided glass with crystal clear gold body and tall white head with spotty clingy lacing. The modest aroma is soft, inviting and delivering crisp fresh spicy hops, a bit of earthy hops and faint grainy malts in the background. The taste unloads first a pleasing fresh spicy hoppiness. It then quickly picks up smooth and nourishing fresh grainy malts and then some floral hops in a supporting role. It remains crisp and fresh into the finish. This is scratching me right where I itch. It leaves a pleasing spicy hoppiness and a fading grainy maltiness deep into the after taste. At 0.2l per pour it seems odd and interesting that before I knew it I had tossed back 5 or 6 of them. kuphish (381) - Fort Lauderdale, Florida, USA - NOV 13, 2011
On draft at the brewery. Clear, golden body with a fluffy, white, clingy head. Lightly fruity nose (ripe apple and pear) with floral hops and meander into grassy. Some bready malt. Grainy malt flavor has a little huskiness, but is not astringent. Hop flavor is light and the esters are a little more present. Medium body is relatively sweet with a lighter bitterness than expected. Malt lingers in the finish. Good Kölsch and glad I could finally try it!
Ontbeertaster (2362) - Ontario, CANADA - SEP 18, 2011
Had at the brewery in koln, pours a nice bright yellow, taste is very smooth light but a good body, very nice offering Christian (13670) - Odense, DENMARK - AUG 20, 2011
On tap at the Brauhaus and at the Salzgasse Ausschank. Golden with a big and lasting white head. Aroma of fruit and malt, with some spicy pepper notes. Dry with fruit flavour, white wine, malt a bit of spice and a hoppy finish

MartinT (9880) - Montreal, Quebec, CANADA - JUL 10, 2011

Cushiony pils malts develop honeyed angles to envelop this masterful Kölsch’s herbal hops, as minute banana esters add depth to an already evocative quaff.
Further Personal Perceptions :
-A healthy head of foam laces endlessly atop the clear golden.
-The fluffy natural carbonation and lean residual sugars make for great drinkability. A veritable pillow of a mouthfeel.
-The herbal hop finish is levelled with the rest of the brew’s moderate intensity.
-Malts also offer cracker-like flavors.
-This one looked and felt like it was more loosely filtered than other Kölsches in town. In any case, the yeast seemed to play a bigger role in the aroma and flavor profile.

A bit maltier than your average Kölsch. The mouthfeel is clean but not very refreshing. fiulijn (20516) - Vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA - JUN 16, 2011

The color is a darker shade of blond, with a generous compact head; and served in this conditions it’s surely a hit. The aroma has some delicate malt, elegant. The body is not too thin; the flavor is mild and a bit salty. Correct bitterness; the final seems to be quite dry. After a few glasses, a light grassy touch seems to appear. Pleasant.

The color is a darker shade of blond, with fluffy head. The aroma is mild, delicate, with some malt, and a very light citrusy touch (orange and cedar). The mouthfeel is round (if possible for a Kölsch), with some malt flavor and light hay; correct bitterness. Pleasant, fresh.
