Cask at the Earl of Essex - London. Pours clear, yellow-gold with a fine, white foam head. Dry lemon and straw comprise the aroma. Light sweet flavor with some biscuity pale malts, light dough, mellow bitterness. Light bodied with fine carbonation. Decent condition. Clean finish with a bit of white sugar and lemon, some rind and straw bitterness. Simple but fine. mR_fr0g (11901) - Hertfordshire, ENGLAND - MAY 26, 2013

Cask @ The Earl Of Essex 2013/5/7 An impressive first brew. Or first brew they sold anyway. Smell is off-putting damp straw kind of thing. Slight haze. Hope they are going down the unfined route. Very smooth palate. Taste is predominantly sweet. Not much hops evident considering the description. Well kept but poor head retention. Still better than many that have been going longer. Looking forward to trying some later brews more in-keeping with their now ’guest’ selection.
