Master brewer Alfred Van Roy launched Dobbel PALM in 1947 as a beer for the festive season in order to celebrate the brewery’s bicentenary. He offered it at no extra cost, as a token of appreciation to all his loyal customers. The beer was so successful that he turned it into an annual tradition.

Dobbel PALM is a top-fermentation amber beer with an even more pronounced malty and hoppy character than PALM. With an alcohol content of 5.7%, Dobbel PALM is the ideal connoisseurs’ beer for the festive season.

   AROMA 5/10   APPEARANCE 3/5   TASTE 5/10   PALATE 2/5   OVERALL 10/20
MarcoDL (5380) - - APR 27, 2014
Sweet version of the regular palm. Has more fruits and it a bit more yeasty. Boring actually.

nathanvc (712) - Brugge, BELGIUM - NOV 5, 2017
Pours hazy amber with a small, tan head. The aroma contains caramel, nuts, malt, hops, some spices, bread and dough. It tastes light to medium caramel-like sweet and medium to light bitter, somewhat hoppy and herbal, with a slightly metallic finish. Light body, watery texture, fizzy carbonation. More pronounced and thus more enjoyable than the regular Palm, but remaining quite boring.

one of the better amber beers, one of the upsides of the holidays. very particular taste though, so most likely not for everyone

SVD (2086) - NETHERLANDS - JAN 10, 2017
shared glass, amber beer, small head. Aroma is malt, fruit, oxidated, iron. Taste is the same, sweet bitter, meh

Grumpelmies (364) - GERMANY - JAN 4, 2017
Draft. Reddish brown with a big foamy head and some lacing. Aroma of caramell, malt and sugar. Taste follows aroma plus some fruitiness. Good carbonation and very sessionable.

Ysok02 (1827) - Mons, BELGIUM - DEC 29, 2016

.75l bottle Explosive. Pours hazy amber with low head. Aroma is malts, honey notes, caramel, syrup notes, apple, dried fruits, spices. Flavor is mostly same.

mikske79 (1727) - Puerto Plata, DOMINICAN REPUBLIC - OCT 15, 2016
De geur is niet zo geweldig. En de smaak is hetzelfde. Niet slecht, maar absoluut mijn ding niet.

Louke (78) - Swalmen, NETHERLANDS - JUL 31, 2016
Slecht bier! Daar waar palm een redelijk goed bier kan brouwen hebben ze met deze de plank volledig misgeslagen. nare bittere nasmaak

julian741 (7) - Milan, ITALY - JUL 31, 2016 does not count
una birra ambrata di alta fermentazione con un carattere maltato e luppolato ancora più pronunciato rispetto PALM . Con una gradazione alcolica di Dobbel PALM è la birra gli intenditori ideali " per la stagione di festa

Rubin77 (2583) - Brussels / Bratislava, SLOVAK REPUBLIC - MAY 31, 2016
F: off-white, average, average retention. C: coppery, clear. A: malt, dark caramel, brown sugar, molasses, dark fruits. T: malt, light caramel, brown sugar, fruity, hint of grassy bitterness, moderate body, average carbonation, quite commercial Belgian ale, 0,25l bottle from Carrefour in Brussels.
