COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
PALM Ale has long been one of Europe’s top-selling specialty beers. Made with English hops, French Barley, and Belgian yeast, PALM represents the best of European beer-making traditions. It’s the roasted Champagne Malt which gives PALM its amber color, but without being heavy. Also available bottle-conditioned as Palm Hergist.
Sold as Palm outside of Europe.

Dacrza (981) - Great Meadows, New Jersey, USA - NOV 16, 2013
DATE TASTED: November 16, 2013... GLASSWARE: Ommegang stem... OCCASION: celebrating the unseasonably warm afternoon of football, Christmas lights and fun with my sons... APPEARANCE: opaque, deep golden amber body with a soft, foamy thin white head that rings uniformly; lacing is cirrus cloud and ocean crest... AROMA: aromatic, fruity--sour apple and tart candy... PALATE: light, fizzy as cider; possesses some staying power in the mouth, but rather dry like champagne...TASTE: mildly tart and pleasantly crisp with little exchange of flavor in the exhale; an underlying hint of lager malts, but inevitably this is a clean basket of fruit with enough hops to hint at an ale...OVERALL: This has to be one of those handful of brews I have passed numerous times, always intending to try and never quite trying; its inclusion in the "Great Beers of Belgium" forced my hand, and I am pleased to find it a serviceable, light, cheaper version of Unibroue’s wonderful Ephemere (which announces its apple right up front); a single notch below the Estaminet pilsner in the sample, and two below the Rodenbach--but beer drinking isn’t really a competition, right?...

Bottle sample from backlog notes. Pours a clear golden color with a small off white head. The aroma and flavor have corn, cereal, skunk, yeast, some sweetness, a light metallic note, not very good.

Pours dark golden with a small white head. Aroma of malts, grains and some esters. Taste is rather sweet with a light bitter finish. Then, fruity and caramel notes. Medium body, high carbonation. Decent.

Can33. Belle couleur orange/ambrée. Mousse blanche stable à 0.5 cm. Nez : fruits (abricot, cerise, agrumes), caramel, candi. Bouche : fraîche, maltée, fruitée/sucre, un peu d’épices. Peu de complexité, peu d’amertume mais pas mauvaise tout de même.

A bottle from Beers of Belgium drunk at Dad’s place while home on leave. Aroma: fruit, strawberries, iron. Appearance: clear golden-amber, minimal head. Palate: light-bodied, rather thin, average carbonation, some bitterness in the finish. Taste: medium-sweet and bitter, mixed. Respectable beer.

Amber beer with a thin foamy bright white head. Nose of light caramel, unbaked dough, and wet cardboard. Flavor is semi-sweet with caramel malt, almonds, and buttered toast finished with a mild bitterness. Decent beer.
