Cask at the Claret, Addiscombe. It pours deep brown with a foamy beige head. The nose is wood, earth, leather, caramel, dried fruit and fruit cake. The taste is smooth, bitter-sweet, wood, leather, earth, light spice, raisin, caramel, light alcohol and varnish with a dry finish. Medium body and soft carbonation. Well rounded. Decent. UPDATED: NOV 10, 2015 Much darker than I’d imagined but plenty of caramel and licorice notes, not a huge hop flavour but you wouldn’t expect it in an Old Ale anyway. A good winter/end of session beer. The name won’t please the anti-hunting lobby and really doesn’t suit the beer but for all that I do like it. planky84 (3313) - Lee, Greater London, ENGLAND - MAR 2, 2014
Cask at the NWAF, Derby ’14. Dark brown pour with a beige head. Toffee and orchard fruit aroma. Rich fruity, malty action. Splash of sultanas and baked apple. Quite boozy. Not bad. Leighton (21496) - London, Greater London, ENGLAND - JAN 15, 2014

Cask at The George, Bridport; black, thin loose beige head; good roast malt aroma; tastes of roast malt, licquorice, red fruit; a gentle sweetness; smooth; some milk chocolate and booze on the sweet finish; classic stuff - a previous poster said ’mellow’ and they’re spot on; one of my favourite beers from my home county. mike_77 (6734) - Breda, NETHERLANDS - DEC 31, 2012
