Clear medium to dark brown color with a small to average, fizzy, fair lacing, mostly diminishing, off-white head. Aroma is moderate to heavy malty, roasted, dark fruits - raisin, prune. Flavor is moderate to light light heavy sweet and moderate bitter with a average to long duration. Body is medium, texture is oily to watery, carbonation is soft to flat. (070808)
[Cask at GBBF 2005] A red-brown beer with a thin brown head. The aroma is sweet malty with notes of roasted malt and over ripe fruit, but also hints of sulphur. Deep brown colour, small brown head. Not really much of an aroma, mainly dark fruits and some earth. Flavour is mainly dry grass, dark fruits and some sour wood along with herbal notes.
From notes. Handpump. Clear dark brown, small beige head, medium lacing. Aroma of prunes and dates, Taste is watery, some fruit, but some metal as well. Average.

Bree Louise. Cask. Clear deep amber - brown beer, small pale tan head. Smooth palate, very slightly soft. Very mild carbonation. Sweetish malts, a little raw but mostly toffee - caramel. Tangy fruits and light chocolate powder. Little plum. Light dry finish. Tasty but a bit flat.
Gravity cask at the Bree - London. Dark brown pour with a filmy tan head. Good beer, some maple syrup, cocoa, dark toffee. Medium bodied with fine carbonation. Good condition. Nose is dark fruit rinds, light spice, earthy, dark malt, toffee.
Taste comprises fruit cake, dark malt, spice, dried plums, light tobacco shreds.
Medium bodied, moderate carbonation, drying close.

A touch of cocoa in the aroma, otherwise a classic strong English ale. Dark reddy brown, small head. Soft palate, carbonation low. Caramelly. Not so exciting, but very tasty. Full, sweetish, but very mellow. A tasty strong ale.
Cask at the Claret, Addiscombe. It pours deep brown with a foamy beige head. The nose is wood, earth, leather, caramel, dried fruit and fruit cake. The taste is smooth, bitter-sweet, wood, leather, earth, light spice, raisin, caramel, light alcohol and varnish with a dry finish. Medium body and soft carbonation. Well rounded. Decent.
