Bottle into a snifter. Pours a deep brown with a frothy head. Smell has a sweet toffee note with some chocolate and coffee hints. The body is full and the taste is very good. It had a sweet taste with vanilla and coffee hints. What I liked about this beer is that it had a great imperial stout taste without the high alcohol taste and impact that often accompanies this style.

Bottle. Pours black. Aroma and taste are light roasted malts, chocolate, and coffee.

Pours dark brown with bubbly tan head. Aroma of roasted malt and coffee. Flavor is burnt malt, bitter dark chocolate. Fizzy with all the bubbles. Overall I liked the beer, but it’s not very Squatchy. These beer names are just random, right? There’s no rhyme or reason for them. They are almost like band names. One day when a beer comes along named Satan’s Death Basket or some other random string of words, then we’ll know we are at critical mass.

bottle @ Jungle Jim’s / Eastgate OH --- Opaque dark brown, frothy tan head, sprays of lace. Aroma of roasted malt and coffee. Taste is assertive burnt roasted malt that adds chocolate and coffee as it moves to medium, but aggressive carbonation on the swallow, followed by light bittering in a long finish. Heavy on the bitter side, right from the beginning, but, not bitter from hops. A decent brew that has a light body, and a full, powerful taste.

Middle of the road stout. Pours dark with foamy tan head. Overly carbonated for my liking, gave a mouth feel of a bud light. The taste is pretty good, but nothing special. Again pretty middle of the road in my opinion. Would probably pass more as a porter than a true stout.

Darkover (1545) - Columbus, Ohio, USA - FEB 19, 2015
Dark brown with a small brown head. Aroma of roasted malts and chocolate. Taste is sweet, malty, chocolate, medium body, finish is a little bitter.

12 ounce bottle from Kroger Athens, OH, opened 7/18/14. Pours a dark brown color with a medium sized fizzy brown head. Poor head retention. Aroma of roasted malt, coffee, mild hops. The taste is chocolate, roast, vanilla, dark fruits. Thin bodied. Decent.

Bitter and slightly tart. Not sure if this is a bad bottle or if this is what it is supposed to taste like.

bartlebier (4217) - Belchium im Biersgau, GERMANY - AUG 11, 2014
12oz bought somewhere along the road in WI, 09/2013. Pours exquisitely rich coffee with rich espresso crema. Tangy aroma of liquorice and filter coffee, continued in taste, only getting more riche and chocolate-full as it warms, with a thinner liquid tobacco edge. Very well balanced, up until the dry roast finish.
