Thanks to JohnC for sharing his bottle. Ruddy brown brew sitting under a cream colored head. Some slight cherry notes along with a oakiness that seems to hold things in check. A really nice brew but my favorite in this style is still Speciaal Brouwsel.
Slightly deep hazy amber under a thin off white cap. Wild woody funky nose with kisses of red wine and earthy light lactic tones. Smooth semisweet red berry flavor with light woody flavors and a light earthy lactic bugginess. Semisweet fruity start with a wave of wood and buggy wildness that’s gentle and nuanced. Very amazing. crosswindlndngs () - Orlando, Florida, USA - NOV 25, 2017
Aroma is earthy, notes of wood. Pours a deep red with brown undertones, white, thin head that sticks around. Initial taste is a woody, (obviously) sour hit with undertones of raspberry. Aftertaste sticks around a while which tastes a bit like fine bread dipped in olive oil.
Overall excellent. thellgren (1164) - Helsinki, FINLAND - SEP 23, 2017
0.75 l bottle @ Il Birrificio, Helsinki. Appearance is similar to cognac. At first taste is complicated with tannins and wood but later on it is just dry. Not very sour really. Like some dry wine made from berries. Frankly, I expected more. stchloe (1118) - Portland, Oregon, USA - AUG 13, 2017
Very earthy aroma and notes, a bit of odd mushroomyness in the after, but good? Rich and leathery but very light sour backs well against a bit of cognac AleRider78 (1499) - Winchester, Ontario, CANADA - JUL 3, 2017
A bit pricy right off the bat. Shared this one with my better half. Pours a thick frothy creamy looking head and has a really dark amber appearance. Good lacing. Has aromas of mild cherries, sweet malts and resin hops. Flavours are of green apples, light mild spices, herbal and earthy hops. Very sour, tarty, especially in the finish. Faint carbonation. Chalky drying mouthfeel Much more bitter and sour than sweet. Not bad. This one’s kind of all over the place and in your face. 750ml bottle is better when shared. :)

2013/Jan. Cellared. Purchased in Chicago 3 months fresh. Nice strong carbonation noise on breaking the seal. I was worried it was going to spray all over the place. Ruby with just slight brown hues. Short, ample small bubble off white head with mild lacing. Lots of fast moving carbonation. This has stood up exceptionally. Nose is heavy with raspberry, green leaves, and yeast. Lots of apple tart, raspberry, and a background nutty toast on the palate. It’s obviously a sour, so the nuances of acid, and fruit. Traces of wood, whiff of smoke. Faint charred sugars in the background, likely from contact with hot surfaces during the boil. Faint menthol/mint in the finish, with notes of black tea. Excellent. Bottle best before 2009 sampled 2017. Cherry fruit and mild lactic aroma. Very cloudy light brown color. Fruity and light acidic taste with a small sweetness. VsXsV (4572) - Stockholm, SWEDEN - JAN 6, 2017
Bottle. 2005 vintage. Light hazy brown liquid with small white head. Aroma of lemon, apple skin, balsamic, port wine, raisins and dried fruit. Taste is light sweet and medium sour with notes of lemon, port wine, raisins and apple skin. Medium bodied with medium carbonation. Really nice, very well aged. fackbesokare (100) - - DEC 27, 2016

750 ml bottle shared. Hazy reddish brown appearance with a small tan head. Aroma of sour funk, light oak, mild caramel malt and a mild sweetness. Medium body with a light watery feel. Hints of a vanilla and dark fruits round things out. Nicely balanced but pricey.
