Shared 11.2 oz., grenade-like bottles brought back by tasting friend from AZ., poured to snifters showing a cloudy, amber hue, with a modest layer of bubbly, soft white head foam, and dots & dashes of lacing. The nose was pit fruit as apricot, a slight hint of banana, some spice, sweetness, and soft malt. The taste, on the other hand, was highly candy-like, and under attenuated sweetness, some modest, earthy bitterness, and boozy warmth. Light to medium bodied, with fair carbonation. Pint on tap. Looks like a tripel almost, nice bubbly head, OK adhesion, persistent, translucent beer--wow it’s actually very lightly carbonated, caught me off guard. Taste is slightly sweet, moderately sour, with some earthy/wild notes. I’m disappointed overall, $7 is too expensive for this beer. Palate is pleasant enough, plenty long and approachable. Decent beer, but weak taste and complexity for a Belgian strong ale. Glad I tried it nonetheless, a belgo-american collaboration that didn’t quite pan out.

Draft @ Papago. Clearish golden yellow with a small white head. Aroma of earthy Belgian yeast, sugar, spice and fruit. Flavor is sweet sugary malt, zesty spice and light alcohol warming. On tap at Papago Brewing, but brewed in Belgium. Comes a hazy dark orange with a nice off-white head. Aroma of malt, fruit, grain, and spice. Taste is oranges, apricots, malt, coriander, yeast, and florals. Somewhat sweet. Very nice.
